Location: Kansas | Well peptoboonsmal will fall right off the papers, and to be honest.....there are several own sons of Pepto that are proven that I would breed to first before a great grandson. |

thanks for the feedback of what will fall off the papers. Not worried about that or resale as I'm getting the breeding basically free from a local friend. |

With that being said, if YOU like the horse & think it is a good thing, then go for it!!! |

| He is a nice looking horse. He has some nice names on his pedigree, but they are pretty far back. A couple of things i look for when considering a stallion are: 1. Do the stallion owners think highly enough of the stallion to take care of him and the facility? It doesn't have to look like the 6666's but it should be neat and safe. 2. Has the horse done, or is he currently doing anything? Not every stallion has unlimited marketing or training funds, but every stallion should excell at whatever his responsibilities are. Those responsibilities should extend past eating and breeding, at least for a period of time. 3. Pedigrees demonstrate an increased probablility that the horse can perform. If there aren't performers in the pedigree, and if the stallion hasn't performed...why would your foal be the exception? When keeping your own foal, you will soon realize that it costs just as much to own a nicely bred horse as one without any recongnizable names on the pedigree...but the nicely bred one will actually be sellable if the need ever arose.
I hope this helps in your decision making.

Thank you for the feedback. All good stuff and noted.
I should edit the post question as I'm not asking IF i should breed to him or not. I'm really looking for feedback on his specific lineage and if any known traits good/bad are common. |

Location: Texas | I think that what everyone is trying to say is that anything recognizable is pretty far back on the papers and would be too far back to have impact on personality/temperment. With that being said, if you are breeding for yourself then go for it. If stud and mare have the personal and physical qualities that you like, then it will work out great. If you are breeding for resale, probably not. |

Barrels/Roping/Playdays/Trails/Pleasure riding.... I'm not in the business of breeding but would like to breed/raise my own foal at least once in my lifetime. |

I love a roan, if you like him then breed your mare to him, since its something that you want for your self. I dont have any feedback on his lines, all I know is that they are working horses that can get a job done. |
