I hate wearing them because they make my legs feel restricted but after hitting a barrel last night and most likely could use some stitches I think its time to start wearing them just to be safe! |

Location: CTX | I don't like wearing them, and luckily my horse is not a big hitter, but when I messed up my shin I went to walmart and got the $5 soccer shin guards.
They have a strap that velcro's on. And they are not heavy at all. You can wear them underneath your jeans also. |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Sorry to steal your thread but... what does everyone use just for knees? I had knee surgery about 2 1/2 months ago and will be needing something that will take most of the brunt force if I were to hit a barrel. I broke my kneecap among other things and really do not want to re-do this all over again. |

| Martha Josey shin guards with Velcro. I tuck them in my boots, under my jeans so you can't see them. They cover the knees too. I have had knee surgery also and feel totally comfortable w/them. |

| I have had 2 knee surgeries ... cracked knee cap .. I wear the Classic shin guards that you can wear under your pants. They cover my knees and shins. I tried the soccer shin guards but found they don't stay up if you don't have them put on tight. I've tried the socks as well and they were uncomfortable and neither covers the knee caps. I had a friend who used the knee rests you get at home depot for construction workers ... They were too bulky for my comfort but she loved them.

These! They cover your knees and go on and off easily. You can put them on over and under pants. After seasoning a horse last year I'm over hitting my shins. No matter how light you hit it, you're sore, bruised, and miserable for a week minimum. Won't run without em now. |

Location: The Purple Room | I use dirt bike shin guards. I got mine from amazon. I have chicken legs, so I was able to get a youth size. They're cheap and take a hard it. They also cover my knees. I've had knee surgery so that was important. I wear mine under my jeans and they fit in the top of my boots. |

Location: Florida | The Josey ones are best. Back when, I painted a pair black so they wouldn't be obvious. Now you can buy any color you want. The hockey knee guards did not fit well at all. When I broke my knee cap I used pads and ace bandages under my jeans and knee guards and ace bandages on top. Worked a couple of rodeos and then my horse turned hard at the first and I lost my balance. He stopped dead and saved me. I decided right then that I needed to heal before I ran again. |

| I have a pair of the Charmayne James neoprene ones that come up over your knee. Horse is short so if we tip my knee is going to take the brunt of it. I don't wear them often, depends on the arena and if I think he's going to really rate hard, small indoor pens mostly. |
