I'm sure you are all aware that Southeast Texas went under water... in that, my wool pads sat in flood water and wet feed. The disgustingness is.... just.... ugh. I've hosed them down, and hung them out. They still smell like soured feed though. Bleh! Is there a way to deep clean wool pads?

I really hate to tell you this but throw it away! anything throw it away. appliances and so forth! I live in a flood zone and have been flooded housewise and I feel for you! but there is just no cleaning from flood waters! It will be awful as time goes on and the mold will be awful. Praying for you! Flood mud is like no other! and what is in the flood water is the worse!

I would hose it down with Woolite then let it air dry for a few days and then if that didnt work go to Dawn dish soap, maybe white vinegar and water and if none of the above works then toss them..

You might try using Oxypur by H2O at Home. It's truly a miracle worker on getting the nastiest smells and grime out of fabric.

Can you clean it and then open it up so the sun hits it to dry it?

Soak them in the bath tub/plastic tote in weak bleach, dawn soap, and water. Like no more than a glug of bleach, and a half dozen drops of dawn. Warm water, if your can get it. Swish them around, let them soak for a bit, then let them dry out in the sun, on something like a mesh table or a piece of field fence. If you can roll the water out, instead of wring it, it'll help.

I'd put n tub and run hot water w the dawn.
Let it soak good then drain.
Then I'd put back in tub and pour apple cider vinegar on it and let it soak.
It's a natural sanitizer antibacterial.

I personally would throw em in the trash.
Dont know what was in the flood water and I wouldnt want that crap on my horses back.

Good friend of mine went down as boat rescue for several days and back home and has some sort of virus bug.

I soaked them in odoban and then rinsed thoroughly. They have been in the sun since, the smell is almost non existent now... the thicker pad has not dried fully. They are both Bayou West pads. The water that we got wasn't sewer, or they would have been tossed immediately. It was truly rain related flooding of the tack room. Hopefully enough sunshine is going to be my saving grace.
