I use it with my grain. I don't know if it's compatible to Platinum Performance. I never used that. I like Calf Manna.

Right now, I'm using Nutrena 14% Triumph. It's a sweet feed, so I know some will not agree. I put a cup of Calf Manna with it. I'm not barrel racing though. I'm feeding this to my yearlings and 2 year olds right now. I use the 12% Nutrena at times too. I've used Safe Choice in the past with good results, also. I try to keep my feed bill as low as possible. I use rice bran a lot too.

I had my remaining weaner on Calf Manna when I switched to alfalfa.  In less than 2 weeks he was starting to stand on his toes so I took it out and cut his tiny bit of grain out completely.  His pasturns corrected in a couple days.  I guess the alfalfa is plenty of protein and the CM was overload.  I have put most of my weaners on CM in the past and like the resuls.

I don't like that its so high in protein and I also don't like how much you have to feed.  1 - 2 pounds daily I think is alot when added to a few pounds of grain IMO.  I can do a lick tub or good quality alfalfa much cheaper.  It doesn't pencil out for me.

I have always fed it along with my grain. Always fed much less than the "suggested amount" though.

I should have said that too. I only feed a cup a day.

Calf Manna and Platinum Performance are two TOTALLY different supps, in my opinion. The Platinum is specifically designed as an "everything" supplement, formulated specifically for the horses digestive system, whereas the calf manna I feel is just an added protein/coat conditioning supplement and can be fed to a variety of livestock. It all depends on what change you are trying to feed for.

Just my opinion :)

Agreed ^^

These are 2 different things. Platinum is a supplement for all around health including joint maintenance among other things. Calf Manna is more of a protein additive to encourage growth, weight gain, and muscle development/ maintenance.

I currently feed calf manna to my growing filly (only a cup a day). My performance mare is on PP (2 scoops a day currently). I like both products and what they are giving me, but, they are directed for different things in a feed program and I don't think they are interchangeable. JMO.

I used Calf Manna when feeding a rescue. 1 cup added to everything else I was feeding at the time. Made him higher than a kite. He had a small gas colic episode about 2-3 months into feeding him up and I cut it out at that point. His brain returned from the stratosphere shortly there after. LOL

Dad had a bottle calf and she finished the bag.
