Location: Oklahoma | When I took my gelding to Martin for a fitting they sent me home with a 7.5" demo. The only other size they had was a 9.5" and Tracy felt better about sending me off with the 7.5" until I could find something inbetween. I found a 8.5" and have been using it ever since with two shims. We started with 1" 5Star and are now in a 3/4". I was checking the feel last night and I *think* it feels a bit tight around the seat/shims area. Instead of getting my 1/2" 5Star I pulled a shim out and kept the 3/4" on him. Does it look okay? 
I know that he can't go without shims because it dips so badly.
Can I get away with the 3/4" and one shim (top picture) or should I move down the 1/2" pad and use two shims? I wish I would have taken the time to try all the combinations, but I was in a rush.
Just trying to get the most mileage out of the 8.5" until I can find a used 9.5" |

Location: Midwest | Not sure if this helps, but here's what I've been doing
I started off using a 1" with two shims... then went down to a biofit... then down to a saddleright with 2 shims.... Now I am using the saddleright and 1 shim. I don't think mine will fill out anymore. He's at a good weight now and much of the atrophy has filled in already. Worst comes to worst, I could go to the 1/2 5 star, but that was leaving dry spots, whereas the saddleright is not. |

Location: Midwest | BTW, I demo'd an 8 and it fit him well with 1/2" 5 star. I bought an 8.5 and have been using that for the whole rigamaroll I described above. lol |

Thanks! Tracy thought he would go up just a bit above the 9.5" gullet by the time he's finished. He's 11 and was terribly atrophied and she said he would be a pretty large horse once he's finished judging by his shoulder. I'll try to keep playing around with the pad situation until I can get a bigger saddle! |

Location: Midwest | Mine is also a big boy- he's 16hh and has a big, long shoulder. He's been hard to fit, but I'm having good luck with the Crown C after trying some of the cheaper brands.
I didn't have him "fitted" per say, but I did the demo instead. I'm in Indiana and there is no dealer close to me.
I think most horses, unless they are very TB, would be somewhere in the 8.5-9.5 range but that is pure speculation on my part. It does vary a lot with the pad too- With the 1", I felt I was up too high. I'm liking the feel of the saddleright. |

May I ask where? I frequent the Martin Barrel Saddles For Sale page on FB, but I'm not actually on FB so I'm unsure of how else to look.
I see plenty of gullets in smaller seats, but I have to have a 15" and those seem to be hard to come by without getting a brand new one. |

Mine is probably only 15.2 and I just assumed he was built so race-y looking because he is an appendix (Breeze Bar on top and out of a Bully Bullion TB mare on bottom), but they told me he shouldn't look the the way he did. It makes perfect since because now that he has has added some muscle he does look more like a "thicker" cow bred horse than race-y. I only tried my Billy Cook and it was def a no-go! |

There are two crown c Facebook pages then a few barrel saddle for sale pages on Facebook.
Not sure how many 15" I have seen, but am starting to see larger gullets.
