Location: the high desert | I have heard many times that chicks beduino bred horses are HOT. This one in particular is doube bred chicks beduino and double bred first down dash (sire is buy chicks beduino and out of a first down dash mare, dam is by hawkinson and out of a chicks beduino mare) would that make everyone run the other way screaming? |

| Ive personally seen Beduino horses who are NOT hot. However, I have heard they dont always get along with several types of riders. I think you ride the horse and see how you get along. Figure out its quirks and go from there.
Good luck |

| I agree with stayceem - It depends on the rider and the individual horse. The one's I have dealt with seem to be more fractious than other lines. But a good horse is a good horse and not a single type of horse fits every rider.
Good Luck! |

| I currently have a double bred Chicks Beduino yearling (on her papers on bottom side, and 1 off papers on top). She is super lazy and very laid back. Nothing really bothers her. she is also very smart. I have saddled her, put a bit in her mouth, ground driven her, and even sat my 20 month old son on her back, and she is fine. She may change once she gets into training, but so far she is a dream. Here is her pedigree.

Location: the high desert | Thanks everyone. He is an off the track horse so would have to wait a bit before riding. Im guessing they probably work best with quiet, confident riders? |

Yup. Quiet body, quiet hands, relaxed when you sit 'em. Again, that is just my personal experience |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | I have one who is double Beduino (once thru chicks Beduino) and streakin six. I had my mind set that he would be hot and fragile minded. He was a bit spooky a first but that quickly dissipated after he started training and now he is the calmest most level headed, deal with what ever and never get up set horse I've seen in a long time. I'm falling in love with him and I can't even ride him right now. Just get to sit and watch the trainer. All my readings had me a bit worried but I bought him anyways. Still not regretting that decision almost a year later. Lastnight my trainer decided it was time to start expecting some things instead of asking. Horse got his feelings hurt a little but figured it out and moved on. I think it just has to do with their handler |

Location: TN | I just bought a gelding who's sire is by Chicks Beduino out of a First Down Dash mare as well. He's been off of the track for a few yrs now and is the most laid back horse that I've ever owned. You can tell that he's a powerhouse and has the potential to be A LOT of horse when asked of him but until you do, he's the gentlest boy I've ever dealt with. |

| I have a double bred chicks beduino mare . On her papers , both sides . She is very fractious minded. Not spooky , just hot under saddle & very quirky .. But she's a good horse . Wouldn't ever do anything mean .. Just gets nervous . She does best with a quiet rider . When learning new things , you have to stress that she did it right .. Then she will remember it forever ! She's a horse that you show something once & it's locked in forever . She's a solid 1 d barrel horse . She tries her heart out everytime ! I'd own 10 more .. I actually just bought another one.. 4 yr old mare , granddaughter of chicks beduino on the sires side . She's the total opposite , most quiet laid back horse you could ever want , you cant frazzle her brain at all like the other mare . Call me crazy but I love my chicks beduinos! |

I had an own son of Chicks Beduino (out of an Easy Jet/Northern Dancer mare). I bought him off the track. Very laid back, very smart, VERY fast. Ditto what the other poster said about quiet, confident rider. These aren't horses you can 'cowboy' into stuff. You'll need a partnership. I could shoot off him, run him in a halter, mess around bareback, he was great. But my bf at the time got on and spurred and went all cowboy on him - let's say it didn't go well. I never saw that side of him. He was even great for kids, I had little kids cool him out at big noisy rodeos after a run and he was flat footed as a plow horse. I'd own another just like him. |

Location: Royal J Performance Horses, AZ | TAKE THE HORSE AT FACE VALUE. Every horse is an individual and should be treated as such. I've seen people run away screaming at a horse that is EVERYTHING they were Looking for Just because they saw the horses papers and it had beduino or chicks beduino on it. ( or some other "hated Breeding line")
me personally I have now had Many broodmares, and babies that have been double chicks beduino, or just beduino and i LOVE them super sweet, Gritty, tough son of a guns, i really like them. Now is that to say there isnt a rank one out there or a difficult one? no...
Obviously my opinion probably doesnt mean much, but i think most horse people hear someone say "Steer clear of This breeding line its Nuts!" and then everyone jumps on the band wagon.
but hey just my opinion |

Location: the high desert | Thank you for the comments everyone. I fully believe in every horse is an individual, but when you hear over and over again about a certain line being HOT, its hard not to go hmmm...maybe there is something to that. |
