I am sure this has been on here before, but I am going to ask again anyways.

I recently switched from SafeChoice Perform to Strategy Healthy Edge. Also, I feed beet pulp along with it.

I can't really find research comparing the two products, so I want to hear from other people what their opinions are. The guys at the feed store are really trying to get me to buy their ADM product, but I am even less familiar with that than I am Strategy and I don't want to keep switching grains either. I keep hearing bad things about many of the common brands I am familiar with and it's making my head spin a little. Is anything really "safe" to feed anymore?

So, what do you feed? and, do you feed anything with your feed?

I feed free choice bermuda round bales. I also feed timothy pellets in the morning and safe choice original in the evening. My horses get Adeptus Augment as a vitamin/mineral in the safe choice. I've fed mine this program for 5 years now and I won't be changing it anytime soon.

As far as the SafeChoice, do the recent changes in their product concern you at all? Or do you feel like the changes aren't significant enough to worry about?

No, I don't feel like the changes are significant enough to make me want to switch feeds. There are so many new feeds being introduced to the market weekly. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I hate switching feeds just to feed the latest and greatest. My feed program works for me, so I don't see a need to change it. Plus, when changing feeds you have more opportunity for ulcers or colic unless it's gradually switched over. I used to work at a tack store and we had extensive training in nutrition and supplements direct from the company reps. I feel the adeptus augment fills any void my feed doesn't provide.

I agree, I don't like to switch feeds either. I have been looking into a more "natural" diet as well. There are just a lot of choices and I just want to be feeding what's best for the horse and not something filled with sugar and by-products (that's what I see in a lot of feeds).

I feed senior feed from a local mill and Renew Gold. I have a horse I'm boarding for a few weeks and had to get her Triple Crown because that's what she was getting previously. I have liked TC and used it in the past, but had stopped feeding it because it's so expensive and the product quality wasn't consistent.

I'm feeding whole oats and equipride. Horse hates equipride so I mask it with cocoasoya oil. He is doing well. I also have THE products on hand.

I feed Tribute Kalm and EZ. That being said if I had access to ADM feeds I would be seriously looking into them as I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I feed Strategy Healthy Edge and bermuda hay.   You don't need to feed additional beet pulp with it, if you feed also feed hay.   Look at the ingredient tag, beet pulp is a major ingredient in Healthy Edge.

I feed mine strategy healthy edge & beet pulp :) they do amazing on it .. Even my 23 yr old rope horse is fat & healthy on this . I don't feel like just bc healthy edge has beet pulp in it means you shouldn't feed it separate too.. It's the only thing that keeps the bloom on my hard keeper mare , so I feed beet pulp regardless of what the feed has in it . Just stick with what you are doing ! I don't think you'll be disappointed :)

I feed blue seal ls feed i have 3 horses and they all get 2 pounds a day, 1 in am and 1 in pm. My horses are a 18 year old broodmare, a yearling, and a 16.1 hand stocky quarter horse, they all get 6 pounds of hay and grass for,12 hours. While there are not butter balls but all are a perfect weight. In the winter imgive more hay like 12 pounds and give some beet pulp and hay replacer.

I agree. I feed Healthy Edge with grass hay and my horse is in good shape. There is lke 18% fiber in Healthy Edge so the beet pulp is probably not necessary.
