What do you guys do to teach a young horse to loosen up at the ribcage? Any videos or websites you recommend? Thanks

Lots of inside leg and rein. Circles, counter bends, picking them up and moving them over. Danyelle Cambell is great at it and just did some videos on training barrel horses. Dena Kirkpatrick is also another to learn from.

I just went on Trainingbarrelhorses.com and I didn't see any videos by Danyelle, is there another website?

I couldn't find it. I didn't see her listed under their list of trainers either.

I did find a video that she did with winning runs on youtube which was helpful.

I've always started on the ground, get then to follow you in tight circles. Have a chiro look them over and give them a good adjustment. If you've noticed that they are very atiff, check your saddle fit. Have someone else watch you and see if perhaps you are not sending the right signals. Another thing I've found is if they do not give 100% to the bit on flexing side to side, the rest of their body will be rigid too.

google counter arcing and two tracking....both of these are more advanced manuevers of the standard side pass.   I am having trouble with my 3 year olds left rib cage...so lately it's been lots of long trotting/counter arcing/picking up shoulders and moving them around 360 degrees/then sidepassing away...just playing with all the maneuvers.
