Ok so on FB I have several "pages" that I like. The chive random thoughts etc. My question is what is the point behind these pages?? Like do they make money sharing things or is it just random people that literally have way to much time on thier hands and stay on FB all day?? Like some of them are funny, and I look like when I'm drinking my coffee or taking a quick break. But man I couldn't imagine just being on FB all day unless I was getting paid!! Haha!!

The majority of those types of FB pages make money. Their FB is just another avenue to get people to their website, which is where the real money is made. However many do make money on FB by doing shoutouts, etc.

I don't know the exact answer, but I would venture to guess that it's to direct people to their website, where more visitors = more money paid to them by advertisers.

I have my FB page to direct people to my website mainly, but I also will post informational stuff (some about products I carry, some just good info), dog/horse pictures, stories/articles, etc.  It's fun to be able to have a direct connection or daily connection to customers that I don't ever get to meet in person.

Wanted to add that FB gives them more exposure, especially when they pay to boost posts, because their post reaches more people than just those who "like" their page. They post constantly so that they're always showing up on your news feed to "remind" you that they're there.

Oh, thank you so much!! I completely forgot that I listed my website under my info! I actually update FB WAY more often than my website because it's so easy, and I get more interaction with people that way.

I might just have to commission you to paint something for me!

That's what I love about FB - the interaction!  Love being able to communicate with customers, a lot I consider friends now, that are hundreds of miles, thousands or miles, even oceans away!

Ok. I kinda figured there had to b some way they were making money. I get FB for publicity because people look at FB way more than they just say "google" something. And I am guilty of say buying something from someone just because it showed up on my news feed. I was just curious!! Thanks!!

I keep mine to direct traffic to my website as well.  Although, it seems that more people go to my business facebook page to inquire about my products than on my webpage.  They are now starting facebook stores, but I haven't taken the plunge yet.  Just something about facebook being the middle man on financial transactions is hard for me to trust!

I have one page for my farm, one for my OTTB that was already set up when I got him, two author pages, and one for my blog. One post out of 50 posts might be mentioning what I have to "sell" (book, blog page, training or a horse to sale). The rest of the posts are informational, motivational, funny, or maybe just what I'm doing that day. I promote others as well. I spend at least an hour on social media, most days it's 2 hours (Twitter, Instagram too) . I try to keep people engaged, make connections, and every once in a while I might make a sale as a side effect. I put a TON more time into it than I make off it but I am hoping one day it'll pay off. Twitter has gotten me book deals & interviews, and a brand sponsorship, but Facebook is where I still connect with every day people.

I my slef have a couple, ine for our cattle operation, one for my horses and one for my sewing business.
The first two I am not as active on, I like it so I can type out an add onece and just share it to sale groups.
Same with the sewing but I really wished It was more consinent on posts showing in news feeds. Some times I get 100 views others i get 2 unless I pay facebook money. But its handy to have everything in one spot and easy to share.

You can have a page for anything though! You do not have to sell or be a business.
