Most young horses tend to be on the lazy side until you established a good work ethic.

I have two granddaughters of FG. Both are by First Down French. They are both talented, athletic, and have good minds. The lady who broke my 2YO said she was very mature but a little on the lazy side. I haven't felt any laziness yet. When I ask for a lope, she either directly picks it up from a trot or has it with in 2 strides, doesn't require much encouragement from me.

I rode the stud Guys Piece Ofthe Pie and he was anything but hot or lazy. Very eager to work, one of those who meet you at the gate when you have a bridle. But never juicy and what I'd consider hot.

My daughter has never been hot, but really loves to run and can be a bit on the flighty side. I have to be careful with my spurs on her because one bump and she flies.

I also own a daughter of FG and she's super laid back, at 5yrs old, but she's right on the money when I ask her to lope off, or move off..but try and get a long trot out of her for an extended period she's super lazy. Very very good minded mare, I'd own another if I could afford to

I have a 6yo own daughter and a 2yo own son (stallion) both are SUPER minded out of two totally different mares. I wouldn't say they are lazy but laid back yes. They are very smart almost too smart lol I wouldn't call them hot at all but they won't take someone "fighting" with them I guess you could say. I would own a whole pasture full though I've raised two other own daughters that I sold by him that were just as incredible. They are by far my favorite. I've also had a Frenchmans Fab daughter that was the same way !

I have a 9 yr old grandson that had a late start....He is one of the best minded horses I have ever owned. Very sensitive to things tho.  He does like to work but is a push style. Breezing he can flat out fly but haven't really been able to get him to clock in the arena yet.

He is very laid back too. I feel like if I decided I didn't want to barrel race anymore he could go be very versatile and do almost anything.
