Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with this lately?  I'm thinking it may be due to the weather we had in August, but I'm not sure.

I have bought Standlee cubes at 2 different stores (Atwoods and TSC) in 2 different towns in the last few weeks, and out of the last 7 bags I've opened, 3 have been moldy. Like fuzzy gray and black mold and smelled really bad.   I'm not sure if this is a regional issue with storage and weather or a Standlee issue because I bought like 12 bags on clearance back in August, stored them at home, and they were all fine to the last bag even tho my feed room is not climate controlled.

I'm to the point now of making the drive to buy a pallet of a different brand and quit messing with these at all.  I don't have time to keep making second trips to return feed back to stores an hour away.

i have never heard of humidity causing mold either. I would think if the cubes were processed properly they should be fine unless they got wet

I buy Standlee cubes and have not had a problem. You can call Standlee and the TSC and Atwood's HR departments and tell them wha tis going on.
TSC is really good about fixing problems when they know about them.
Standlee will step in as well and make sure TSC is displaying, rotating, and selling their products safely.

I haven't had a problem with any of the bags of Standlee I've bought, but all summer I kept having to return the bags of Select Way cubes due to mold. The Standlee's come from TSC, the Select Way comes from our local feed store.

I have not had that problem and those are what I buy.  Mine are left outside in a cart.

Thanks for the numbers. I returned the Atwoods ones last week, so at least the local store knew about the problem.  I made a point of telling them I wouldn't be buying any more until they had a new pallet open because I bought 4 and 2 were bad.

TSC just happened yesterday so I haven't had a chance to do anything.   The boy who checked me out mentioned that they don't sell many cubes, so who knows how long those bags had been there.  We're not just broke out with feed stores around here, and these are the only places I know of to buy cubes within an hour of where I live.   You can find pellets all day long, but not cubes.   There's a Hayright dealer about 3 hours away, and a Danco dealer about 4 hours away.  I would have to buy a pallet at a time for it to be worth the trip.

If you took a peek in any tack room around here back in August, you would have seen little green forests sprouting on EVERYTHING. I had stuff molding that has never molded before. We had day after day after day of rain with temps in the 90s for like 3 weeks and everything was soaked inside and out.  All the horses had fungus too. It was crazy.

I have been buying Stanlee alafalfa/oat cubes at Tractor Supply all summer with no issues.  I buy about once a month and bring them home and dump them immeditally into a container.  My feed stall is definitely not climate controlled, so pretty warm here in Okla.

I've used the Standlee timothy pellets for years.  Never had a problem with them.  My guess is that it is stemming from how they are stored/rotated at your feed store.  Have you tried getting ahold of Standlee themselves?  They are a good company and would want to know there is an issue.

No, I haven't talked to them yet. The 2nd incident just happened Thursday, and I wanted to ask and see if this was a common problem or not. So far, I have found one other person who has experienced this and they're a long way from here. I just thought it was weird that 2 stores from different companies and different towns had the same thing happen in a short period of time.   I've been buying cubes at Atwoods for more than a year and a half and this was the first time I got bad bags.
