Has anyone used this as a follow up treatment for EPM? Experiences, dosage directions, or other suggestions? Thank you!!!

I have used a compounded toltrazuril/DMSO mixture to treat a severe case of Epm with amazing results. Horse was showing very visible symptoms including nuero. That was in october. Now hes in barrel training..looking great, feeling great. I do have him on Equine Saver as a post epm immune builder. On previous horses I've used origen (or oroquin?) with little results.

I used compounded Tortazuril/DMSO on one that turned out to not have EPM. 10cc a day for 30 days. It actually did help him for several weeks, with whatever he had--that's still a bit murky. However, he completely cratered during the last few days of treatment and lost everything he'd gained. Toltazuril is hard on the stomach and gut and it absolutely tore him up.
My vet has used it on her own with great results. I'd try it again if needed, but not on the same horse should he ever come up with EPM...

What was your ratio of Toltrazuril/DMSO? I assume that was 10cc orally, correct?

Yes, orally. I'd have to go back and look at the Rx to see what the ratio was. But I've heard it from at least two internal med vets now that it's hard on the gut. It's not what caused my horses metabolic issues, but it certainly did a number on him. I really thought he was going to die for a few days... I would be cautious using it on a horse that might have ulcers.

Does it have to be mixed with DMSO? I treated her with marquis last year and so far she's done well, I had heard that Toltrazuril could be used as a precautionary measure to help EPM from relapsing. We're running at bigger and longer shows this year so I'm tying to keep her EPM at bay. She's on a good feed/hay regimen, she also gets Vitamin E daily, and I also give omeprazole a few days before and after shows. She's never been clinically diagnosed with ulcers, my vet suggested it would be beneficial for her.

Mine was compounded together.
I treated a mare that definitely had EPM with Oroquin 10 with better than fantastic results. I retreated her about this time yearly as a preventative--her hard transitional heat cycles seemed to be a stress trigger for her. It worked well for her. I also had fantastic results with Animal Element Detox. I never found a vitamin E supplement that she would eat well, so I fed her the AE and high quality alfalfa and she handled everything great. She actually went quite a while undiagnosed, and after treatment came back to an even better horse than before.

I used it also, but cant give you an accurate opinion because I used it in conjunction with protazil. Dmso/toltrazuril mix. My bottle said 150 mg/ml. Not sure what that means in terms of the DMSO ratio either. Im wanting to know also because I have a bottle of toltrazuril and wanted to mix it with dmso but have no idea on the doses

We've used it on several both personal and friends horses. I get it from my vet already compounded so I'm no help on the ratio

Which I used for a treatment this summer on my husbands ranch horse that I stole for a novice barrel horse, it worked.

I know several who’ve been treated with it including 1 I owned and treated twice with it - 2 years apart and he was fabulous in between so we feel it was relapse not that the medication didn’t do it’s joh the first time.

Also got it fully compounded so no help there.
