This year I have noticed growths between my geldings back legs. Some are flat and warty looking, while others are more pronounced and will occasionally bleed. They don't seem sore when I touch them. Some seem like they are a bit itchy but they aren't hives. Health wise my gelding seems fine (shiny, bright eye, not grumpy).
They are only located between his back legs and occasionally on his sheath. I haven't had any food changes that I can think of.
Anyone had experience with sarcomas that could help me out? Is it something I need to get treated? They seem to come and go. Will try and post pics when I get a chance. Thanks

Is he a App? I know that Appaloosa's are pretty know to get them. My Quarter horse gelding has a tiny one on the back of his back leg, but its just a tiny little hard one so dont bother him at all.

Try crest paste toothpaste, smear it on.  It got rid of the sarcoids on my horse, I think it is the flouride that kills them

Sounds like sarcoids. They are pretty common. I bought a broodmare that had a nasty, raw one the size of an orange on her flank. The flies would eat on it and keep it angry all the time. When I researched it, I read they are caused by a virus and it's a form of cancer. The mare in question had one too big to use Xterra on so I had as much of it as possible surgically removed, then treated what tried to grow back with Xterra.

Then I had another mare get one between her back legs so I treated hers a few days, it disappeared for a while then came back. I treated it again for a few days and it stayed away. It's been about 4 years since then. When left untreated, they can be a real nuisance.

We tried the toothpaste and all other kinds of creams.  The only thing that worked was having the vet cut it off and putting a couple stitches in.

One of my horses had a big warty looking one on his belly right where the back cinch went.  I did crest tooth paste and you can't tell where it was now.  I treated it in the winter time so I just left the tooth paste on it, only reapplied about 3 times.  Worked great for me and was much better then having it cut off.

Any reason they would show up out of nowhere? I have had this gelding 6 years with no issues and they showed up all of a sudden last year. Is there anything I can do immune system wise to support him?

Mine worked with toothpaste too.  It was worth it to me to try that.  If it didn't work, I, of course, would have had the vet remove it.

He was probably exposed to the virus at some point. My second mare was one I raised. She had no reason to have gotten one except I brought home a mare who obviously had been exposed to the virus and was symptomatic. I sold the mare that originally brought the virus and the second mare got over her problem and nobody else has gotten one. I did nothing except treat the sarcoid when they appeared.
