| In your OPINION, whats the single most important piece of the barrel racing puzzle for success in the pen?

Location: Somewhere around here | I voted for heart/try because there's been a number of crooked legged barrel horses that made it to the NFR or other high stakes races, or just a slight confirmational default if you're trying to look through perfectionist eyes. Nancy Hunter used to say that Fuzz was x amount of inches too long and it made it easy for him to catch a barrel leaving it if they weren't careful. |

Location: Louisiana | I voted training/jockey because you can have a royally bred sure enough athlete who never makes it due to being in the wrong hands. Or a no-name ugly duckling that is groomed over time to be better than they were ever "supposed" to be.
Now, if two horses had the same exact shot at the big time, my pick would be a mix of "try" and raw athleticism. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Training and Jockey can make or break a great barrel horse of any breeding, A good trainer and a good jockey will give the horse the confidence it needs to become a winner.. I have seen no names horses that has heart become winners because of a good tranier/jockey..
I dont care how the horse is bred, built, fed its got to have the right trainer/jockey that has built the horses confidence to be at the top..

Location: Wyoming | I voted Training and Jockeying but more specifically I think the first 90 days on a colt and what they are taught before they see a barrel is the most essential part to being a successful barrel horse |

| It certainly is a combination but if you have a person who is a barrel racer, they are going to pick the breeding that they like. |

| They’re all equally important in my opinion. You forgot farrier, luck, knowledge and continuing education, and a good income. |

| Heart for sure... there’s so many great trainers who have trained horses that have the same breeding, same diet, same vet they may all be good horses but theyre not all GREAT. So what’s the major difference in them all? Their heart and try. It takes a little bit of each of those things to make a good horse, but it takes grit and heart to be great. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | I don't think you can pin it down to a single important piece. It is matter of many things coming together. I don't even think it is necessarily the same combo for every horse/rider team. |
