Wanted to see if you all have any tricks or tips to your horses shedding right now? I brush and brush and it keeps comin out. If I even kiss my boy, I'll have red fuzz somewhere on my face!! What do you all do to speed it up? Or am I being too hopeful and you just have to let it be?

I second this. Bought one last year and so glad I did.

Unless they have been blanketed and under lights you just have to let them shed on their time. Brush Brush Brush  I know with this crazy NW PA weather I don't think mine are every going to be shed out completely. And I blanket!

The edge of a rasp works wonders. Not the sides that you file hooves with, the thin edge on the sides. Short strokes and the hair comes off in sheets lol.

Rasps, shedding blades, sleekez, the black slick n easy blocks have always been a go to for me - but I usually go buy a flattop grill cleaning block and slice it, same stuff way cheaper.

Patience, regular brushing, and no kissing.

If you're interested, this is the massive pile of hair I got off my daughter's little old mare this evening using the SleekEZ. Do excuse my messy pants. Lol!

I was clearing the manure out of the loafing shed this morning.  Our old (26) Thoroughbred was eating his grain and I noticed wads of hair hanging on him.  I took the fork and started dragging it over his whole body.  Took off tons of hair and he loved it.  The ultimate monster shedding blade. Not every horse would have tolerated this.

I brushed him for a good 45 minutes yesterday with a rubber curry and then a regular brush.. I work the curry in circles and a ton of hair came off him.. under all that is a gorgeous darker coat I want showing all the time! Nothing beats a good nutrition program and elbow grease!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! Love the pictures  I just used the back of my rasp and then a curry comb and it came out like crazy. Still got some to go but it's so much better than it was!
