Location: MN | I hope this isnt a stupid question. What do you all do with your moldy square (or rounds) bales? I bought some hay from a reputable guy around my area and I've pulled 2 bales apart that were very dusty/moldy when I pulled it apart Obviously not going to feed it to my horses but all I see are dollar signs LOL. Hay was too expensive this year to just throw away!!! I guess I'm just frustrated. |

| If he is a hay dealer I would get in touch with him and see if he can switch out the bad bales for good ones. If not we just find someone with cows that will feed in or throw it in the pooo pile. Nothing else you can really do. |

I guess I'll see if the deer will touch it. The load just came last month so there's no telling how many more I'll run across. 2 out of 5 bales in just one night is not a good sign though. |

If he is reputable, he will refund your money. If he won't, I would never buy from him again & I would burn the hay. |

| I'd try to get in touch with him, but if he wont fix the problem then I second the finding someone with cows or throwing it in the poo pile. |

| I understand what you are saying about throwing money way. However when you look at a vet bill for a colicking horse, that bale of hay doesn't seem so expensive. That helps me to not feel like I lost a lot of money. |

How long have you had this hay? And was it a good amount of bales that you bought? |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Oh I just read the other posts that you made and I see it's been a month since you got the hay. The humidity could have gotton to it, maybe call and ask the hay man about it. I know sometimes I can have my hay stored but if we have rainy and hot weather the humidity sure can do a number on hay. You can maybe give it to someone that has a garden so they can use it for mulch.. Cattle wont touch moldy hay as well as deer. |

| Cattle will eat moldy hay. Give it to a rancher near by if you can. |

When I find a moldy bale, I give it to my farrier. He has cows. |

Location: WI | If you can't get a refund for it, set a side and throw out for the deer. If we have a winter like last, they'll need it to survive. I had a couple old rotten round bales setting in field and they tore into them they got so hungry. |

| Cattle, poop pile, etc. We put up our own and lose a few bales every year - pick a reason, it happens. I would reach out and let him know though, he may refund money or swap them out for good bales. |
