Location: Iowa/Missouri | I got a new trailer last fall. It has drop down windows on the butt side. Does everyone put screens up on that side as well? I was in a car wreck a week after getting it so haven't even hauled a horse in it yet. But lookiing at getting it ready for the upcoming season so was just wondering how many screens to buy.
Thanks. |

Location: on a horse | NO, you do not need screens on the butt side, just the head side. |

I did. It sure helped with the wind stirring things up inside but yet still gave me air flow. Plus when stopped it kept people from wanting to pat horses etc. And loading I like the visual of a block so they don't want to stick their heads out that side when loading |

I was kind of thinking the same thing, wasn't sure how much shavings would get stirred up. I've never had drop down's on the butt side before. I'm really excited to have them and the extra air flow that will circulate in there.
Thanks everyone, I wasn't sure what the standard was as drop downs on butt side aren't really common around our area. |

I hauled one time with my drops down on hip and screens went in before I did again. I live where it is hot hot and had plenty of air flow with them. Without screens. my horses were covered head to toe in shavings and their manes looked like Whoopie |

Location: Texas | Screens on head side and none on butt side. I use fly mask every time because of bugs or anything else flying through the air. |

| I have slats on the butt side, so I haul with a fly mask most of the time if we're going to be on the highway anyway really stirring up dust |

Location: South Dakota | Well yes and no. I've got drop down windows on the butt side and I put up one screen but haven't gotten the others up yet. I've been back and forth but my thought was that a screen may help keep flies off their backs. Last summer we had so many of those big black flies that would land on their backs. |
