Location: Missouri | Just wondering what the best method of payment is. This is the first time I will be selling a saddle & maybe the last cause it sucks! I had someone want me to send it COD & I said no. I didn't even know they still did that! |

Location: Montana | I'll either sell in person or on eBay...that is how I've only sold saddles so far. I've had really good luck with eBay. |

Location: Montana | I know eBay charges 10% and I hate it, besides what PayPal charges. But our market for barrel saddles around here on CL is flat, so other than BHW, eBay is about the only choice. |

| I've used paypal. There are fees associated. You have to keep in mind that when the buyer pays, sometimes they will hold the payment for about 10 days before releasing it to you or your account. I don't ship the saddle until funds are released. With that said, when pay pal sends the email saying they received payment and gives the the expected date funds will be released, I communicate with the buyer. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | If I find a saddle that I want, and I did last week, lol I will call and talk to them in person so I can get a feel if its a scam are not. I have always had good luck talking in person. Do not send COD, have them either wire you the money, are pay with a cashiers check. I have sold saddles over the internet, when I do get a cashiers check are money order I take it to the bank for them to check over and make a phone call to make sure its not a fake, if every thing checks out ok then I will ship out the saddle. Good luck to you |

Location: Missouri | Thank you all for the responses. I will check into setting up a paypal account. I work at a bank so I am leery of cashier checks & money orders. You can always call & verify them, but stop payments can be put on cashiers checks. I don't think I am cut out for selling stuff on the internet! |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I just sold a $1500 Pessoa jumping saddle and she paid with paypal. I sent her an invoice stating the name and model and seat size of the saddle and that it was sold as preowned. That way the buyer couldn't come back and file a claim saying she didn't get what she was expecting. The saddle arrived a couple days ago and she loves it. Everything seems to have worked out. I would do it the same way again. |

| I buy and sell a lot of saddles online. I cannot stress enough to use Paypal. This provides both the buyer and the seller with protection! And do not let someone talk you into sending payment using the friend/family option unless they truly are, this puts you at risk. If you sell on eBay just be sure to account for that 10% in your price. |

You young people are so ready to trust some company to invade your checking accts thinking it is safe ........... PAYPAL is impossible to get rid of once you allow them into your accts .........
SO DO NOT DO PAYPAL ... they can come back if buyer files a complaint and take it out of your acct without your permission ...
What is wrong with having buyer send a personal check ... call their bank and see if the amount will clear and deposit into your acct and wait 10 days for everything to clear and ship the saddle ............... personal checks are still the quickest to cash and easiest for everyone concerned ... including both banks!!
If in a rush ... call your bank for electronic transfer from their bank to yours ... your bank should have a safe acct where their money comes to and then they put it into your acct without either buyer or seller knowing the others acct numbers. Call your bank ... get their electronic acct info with phone number, ect etc and give it to buyer to give to their bank .... bam... transaction is completed and you ship the saddle ...
NO CHARGE FOR THIS ....
Banks are sleazy in their operations too ... always wanting to kite checks for 10-30 days so they can use the floating money behind the scenes ... when walmart and others swipe you check... funds are out of your acct and they hand your check back to you .... you would think if banks were honest they would do the same thing ... lol
NEVER ALLOW ANY COMPANY TO HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR CHECKING ACCTS AND THAT GOES FOR UTILITY COMPANES TOO ....

I have taken personal checks when I sold saddles, I just did what you said deposit the check wait the 10 days to clear, and really it dont take that long, and once I have the money in my account I ship the saddle. And I have payed with a personal check buying a saddle too and never no problems on either side. And been doing this for years. This pay-pal stuff is some spooky stuff, to many things always go south with it I have heard. |
