 A Bit of a Grammar Nut

Location: floating down a river | Who has used Total Equine feed? We just put an order in and I'm curious what to expect or if my expectations may be too high? |

Location: Central Texas | There are several threads on this and you can expect wildy varied replies. For me, it was a waste of money. My horses did not like it and of the twelve I had on it, only one improved and that was the 30 yr old mare. All the others lost condition more than from any other feed experiment. It took them a few weeks to recover from one month on Total Equine.

Location: Texas | I think it depends on your access to good hay. We have fed it for at least 5 years and all our horses look outstanding on it. However, we live outside of Stephenville and feed coastal hay. Growing up in Central Oregon for my and Wyoming for my hubby, I consider coastal to be crap hay. We feed it pretty much for the roughage and fiber. Alfalfa is the main ingredient in TE, so I don't think I'd feed TE if we had access to reasonably priced alfalfa.
Other than that, we've had great luck with it and really like. They do tend to go through a rough patch about a month into feeding, so don't quit when that happens. After that, they really begin to bloom. |

Location: lost in missouri | The horses I have seen put on it, I am not impressed with. they have all lost condition and their toplines are horrible. Out of 10 horses that I know have been put on it only 1 has been able to stay on it. It wont ever be in our barn. I also love people who tell me their horses cannot be on alfalfa because they get stupid. Or corn because they get excitable. then they have their horses on Total Equine the first ingredient on the list is alfalfa the second ingredient corn. |

Location: Got Lobsta? | I have been using it for about 2 months and so far I really like how it has made my horse look. I like the fact it does not have molasses in it and for the last few shows my horse has been so quiet at the gate. All my horses love the taste and so far its been a really good fit in our barn. I haven't notice a weight loss but actually a weight gain on it. People have different opinions and experiences with it. Try it and see if it works for your horses. |

Location: Texas | I have been feeding total equine for three years now and I won't feed any thing else. My horses love it and they look amazing! Right now I have a pasture full of grass so I am only feeding 2lbs per horse (I have 4) once a day with 24-7 access to the pasture and I also give them a beat of hay each in their stalls so they have a choice to much on that as we'll. I am a huge supporter of this feed lol :) I hope it works we'll for you as we'll :)  |

I think you have the right set up for feeding this feed, but for people that dont have much pasture or good pasture or hay the feed doesnt work as well. I think that is why we are seeing such drastic differences with TE. The one horse in our group that is doing great on it has wonderful pasture and the best hay I have ever seen. |

Location: Texas | About a year ago I had my horses on a pasture that was nothing but weeds, I fed total equine than as we'll I just had a good quality round bale out for them or made sure I had square bales to give them every time I fed the only difference than was I fed 2lbs twice a day with constant hay, I still never had a problem and my horses kept weight. I think it all depends on your horse and your own feeding routine. Everyone just has to try it and see what works for them :) |

Location: Finally horseback again.... | I tried it a few years ago on a head horse of mine.
Smelled like fruitloops and he ate it fine but lost body condition and looked very dull within a month. I used it for about four months and ended taking him in the Lone Star Park to be checked for ulcers, thinking he was stressed or had stomach issues.
Dr Williams asked what I was feeding and I told him TE with alfalfa twice a day plus full access to fertilized pasture.
He recommended changing to SafeChoice. Within two weeks, my horse was blooming, had dapples ALL over him. He was previously a hard keeper, now.. He gets half a scoop twice a day and he is HUGE!!! and his coat glows, calmer, feels better and works better.
I switched all of mine to Safechoice after that and started adding Forco last year. Its been the best program I have used, |

| I love Total Equine. I have 6 head on it and have for about 8 months. I think the key to the TE is LOTS of good quality hay. I feed my guys 4 pounds a day and alfalfa hay. They all look great, are shiny and the best thing they are not hot. It has been great. i will say that when we first started feeding it I was not impressed, thought it was a waste of money of course we didn't have quality hay at that time. Found good hay about 3 months in and WOW my guys bloomed. |

| I live in MN and we feed it to our horses who are a little on the thinner side or need to fill out more without being fat and we LOVE it! Filled the top line out on our hard to keep gelding wonderfully! It looks like dog food so it was weird for the horses to eat at first but I can honestly say I love it. |
