Location: Randolph, Utah | Just left the vet and we got the bad N word diagnosis. Horse is 10 never been lame or sore until this spring. Vet said it's pretty advanced but thinks with 4-6 months off the correct shoeing and some blood thinner meds we should get a few more years out of him. Any other options we should look at. Nerving him was mentioned but not discussed a lot. What about BOT or PHT is one better than the other for helping him or would neither help a lot. |

Location: here there and everywhere! | I just got almost the same diagnosis this past friday. Found out my guys navicular bone is basically in 2 pieces, they believe he was born with it. There is such a wide gap as well as the fact that the bones are way to smooth not jagged or sharp. Since he is so young there is no way the bones can look the way they do or be that smooth had he done it recently.
Hes only 8 years old and only started showing signs last year of intermittent lameness. Breaks my heart my only options right now are corrective shoeing and coffin joint injections. Hes starting to show signs of eaarly stage degenerative coffin joint disease because of the instability of the navicular bone.
I was told monthly pentosan injections help a lot with navicular pain. I'm going to try to get him on this as well.
I will be lucky to be able to use him as a trail horse going to take time to get all of this figured out

| If a candidate for Tildren, it's a great way to go! Mine was too far gone for it at age 6 so we did stem cell injections...never been lame on it since! Injections only lasted maybe a month with mine, it was a bad deal. I left the PHT bells on him this whole spring, but never really noticed a difference to be quite honest. Mine also lives on Previcoxx when being ran.

Location: Kentucky | Find a good, good farrier that is experienced with dealing with a navicular horse. What works for one navicular horse may or may not work for another one. I turned mine out 24/7, and that really helped him. |

Location: East TN | My main horse was diagnosed with navicular about 10 years ago.... she's 19 now and with an awesome farrier and correct shoeing she is still running and winning in the 2D. |

Location: Around here somewhere... | Get a GOOD farrier who will look at the xrays and talk to your vet. We have had great success with navicular horses with injections and shoeing, thanks to our vet and farrier working together. |

Location: Louisiana | I am so sorry.....I would also suggest that you check into TLC's Equibone...........I have had success using this product. My vet could see a shrinkage in the navicular holes on the x-rays after using the product. Also my horse has not been off of Previcox in over 2 years. He takes a 1/4 tablet every day for pain management. Good Luck. |

| Honestly I'd do tildren 3xs... and nerve. Its a case by case basis. .. but after thousands with my horse I did the surgery, still get padded shoes and supplements. I had tried everything , love the surgery option, still taking care of him but I just appreciate the fact he is pain free. It wasn't terrible to start with .. but enough to see there was discomfort. Id rather have the surgery over relying on injections. . I don't believe in injections long term, I think it accelerates deterioration. ETA - I do use equibone and currently looking for a different joint supplement. And I see no difference in him after the surgery accept he is 100% sound and feeling great, unlike being on pain meds and having injections where you can still see soreness regardless what you spend..
