Anyone planning to purchase Alibaba IPO stocks ? Would like opinions from investors to buy or not to buy?

I have considered it.  It appears to be pretty solid.  However, stock market advise on BHW...lol.

One thing I look at is the size of the ipo, the offering price and any changes that occure, such as the change that they did from $60-66 to $66-68.

Whiteboy, Back in the day we use to discuss stocks a lot.  We all assumed that everyone was old enough and wise enough to do their own research and decide what was best for themselves.  It was simply great conversation.

Hey I like the idea of it but I'm a nerd!  As long as people are wise enough to do their homework it is great.  In that case what do you think of Alibaba Fatchance?

Not sure why Yahoo is seperating it, so in saying that if you buy it I would not want to be holding Yahoo stock, it should effect there price.  I normally do not buy any stock on opening day...IMHO it's a hit or miss, and facebook reminded us all of that.   Bottomline for me is I do not know enough about that stock except the experts say it's what has kept Yahoo afloat?

Because I'm feeling generous...I'll give you all my top stock choice for the week...Ford.  Perfectly poised for a 15-20% increase in the next few weeks.

I agree with that on Yahoo.  Some IPO are great, I purchase Epizyme last may and it has killed it.  Basicly doubled my money on that one.  I also purchased in on one in 2012 for a company that my aunt actually ran.  That one worked out well also.  But facebook is a good example of how they can go bad.  I think the recognizable ones get alot of fluff from the media, Alibaba could certainly be one of those, but I still think it is a good bet.

I sold off most of my individual stock when it got so rocky.  I hate admitting this but at my age I can't take huge hits like I could in the past and ride them out.  SO I am taking the less chance approach to my finaces which is BORING!

My brother would be thrilled to read your take on Ford....he is waiting to make money with them for years. lol

All good feedback. Thanks ladies. I didn't buy In on the GoPro IPO and have been kicking myself. I've had my order in for Alibaba for awhile. My etrade guy says I have until tomorrow night to bail out. Apparently there is a waiting list and depending where you are in line shares may not even be available. I'm in for 2000 shares. Hope I don't lose my a**!

I guess it all depends on why you are buying the stock. We have stocks but they are of products and company's that have been around and will be around for a long time. AT&T, GE, Johnson and Johnson. They all pay good dividends. But our investing has a long term plan. Not a flip it and get rich in a couple of months. We wanted low risk investments

Thanks for starting this thread... I just recently started learning about stock trading... STILL learning but all information can be processed through my chemo brain and I may figure it out some day.
