Location: Loma Linda, CA | Ruth Haislip passed away today!
The CA WPRA has made the post to hashtag #rideforruth for support for this amazing and inspiring woman!
Here is my #rideforruth
Condolences to the family! She was nothing short of a great part of the rodeo community and man, so fun to watch at the NFR when I was a kid!
But her spirit will live on in the horses that Scarlett has produced and being trained or running now!

Location: Cali | Haislip's (and others too) have been a vital part of putting California back on the Futurity map over the past almost 20 years.
This is was a terrible curve-ball life threw Ruth and the family. She was a great veterinarian as well as horseman.
I will miss her sincerity and frequent brief conversations.
Prayers for Garret & Tanner to stay positive & strong. May Jim find peace when he continues with the horses they put so much into together, Please God give her the Rest her mind, heart & soul deserves. |

Location: California | Ruth was kind enough to assist me when Marilyn Camarillo sent me a daughter of my beloved Jonny Camarillo. I made sure to have flowers sent to her office as a thank you. When they got the flowers there was no card and she had no clue what it was for. I called to make sure that she got them and she laughed when she realized it was me and said I didn't have to do that. I appreciated her help. Her husband used to work the gates and I enjoyed talking 'racetrack with him when we were at Porterville many years ago. My sister told me that she was at a rodeo and heard a kitten crying by her rig. My sister went and got Ruth and they discovered that the kitten couldn't move it's hind end. Ruth picked up the kitten and the kitten started purring and licking Ruth. Ruth took the kitten back to the clinic and they did surgery. That says alot about her. A vet with a real kind heart. I am so sad for her family and friends. This is a real shock. |

No, the photo posted is of the OP on her fancy Diamond Eyes/Merridoc mare (I'm a little partial to her)
Ruth Haislip ran at the NFR and her NFR mare has produced some very impressive competitive foals
Here is Ruth at the 1998 NFR on her mare, Go Royal Scarlett
