Ok I am in bad need of a new saddle . My old one I have had since high school....let's just say that was a long time ago. I would need a lot of work to make it usable again. I am a single mom now since my ex left us. I don't have a ton of extra cash. I have been watching the used saddle and found nothing I really think would work for me or my mare.I was going though my emails this morning an got an add from horse.com that they have saddle package 50%off. So I go to look and they have tough 1 $1200 saddles on sale for 575 with free shipping. But I don't know anyone who has or use a that brand. Any ideas on quality?

Don't do it, bad bad bad. You should check out the "Alamo saddle" thread on BHW, we're talking about Corriente saddles and how they are a much pretty quality for people who don't have a lot of money, myself included lol. Also, no shipping cost unless your in New Mexico.

I bought a Triple Creek Saddle awhile back. It rides really well and fits most horses I put it on. I paid $900 for a brand new one. They have several on their website. They are a cheaper saddle but good quality.

Corriente's are a good bang for your buck if you want new, otherwise I would keep looking for an older good name saddle. I bought my daughter and Ammerman for $400 in perfect condition. It's got some age on it but still rides and fits a horse 100% better than any inexpensive saddle you could buy.

I agree no on the Tough 1. They just want you to think your getting a $1200 saddle half off when really your still over paying for a $200 saddle. I would also not advise an American brand saddle, my dad bought me one of them new in 2006 and it has literally almost fell completely apart. To me 10 years is just good broke in level for a high quality saddle, but that just my honest opinion. I agree the corriente saddles are really nice saddles for the price. I have one for sale only because I won it and dont use it. But dont pay too much for them. look on their website first at comparable saddles to see what one is worth before you pay too much for a used one. Their are a lot of nice saddles out there that are decent priced and will last a long time.

If you are looking for good used saddles, have you or would you consider looking at Pawn Shops? I saw some nice saddles for $400 and I am sure they wanted to sell them since they had dust on them.

If you are looking for a saddle that wont break the bank I would suggest looking at the Corriente's. Are find a good used name brand. But dont spend your hard earn money on a cheaply made new saddle.

You are being given good advice...Corriente!! Fit well, comfortable, well built, customizable, and extremely budget conscious. Over the top customer service as well.

ANYTHING but tough 1! One of my 4h kids has one and the saddle is literally plastic, it bridges on any horse I put it on because the tree is junk, the fleece on the bottom is already falling off, the seat is convex instead of concave (like sitting on a hump) and the stirrup leathers are already wearing thin from adjustment... shes only had the saddle a few months.

Trash, they look and feel cheap. I could buy a nice corriente saddle for the cost of a Tough 1

With the Canadian dollar so low why don't you check out some Canadian saddle sale pages. You could probably find a really nice used saddle and your budget would go a lot farther.
