My husband I were out a nice restaurant when a woman walked in with her daughter in her arms.  The little girl about ten, was quite obviously battling cancer.  She was so pale, exhausted, just heartbreaking.  Her mom looked tired too.
I started tearing up at the table, I couldn't help it.  My heart broke.  I wanted to buy their lunch, I wanted to pray with them.  God, I just wanted to do something.
After some quiet discussion, my husband told me I would probably make her feel worse if someone paid for their lunch or offered to pray with them.  Plus, he knows I would have started bawling.  So we left without doing anything.   I still can't get this child out of my mind, so even though I don't know her name, please include this baby in your prayers today.

I would have told my waitress I wanted to pay for their meal anonymously. The praying I would just do by myself. But please don't beat yourself up about this. You are obviously a truly caring person and if I ever need prayers I would want you praying for me.
Please also remember that I am sitting in my house with plenty of time to think this through, not living your experience as I type. I may very well have done exactly what you did.
Maybe Hod wanted you to pray for the woman and her daughter and that is why you were there. Just pray for them everyday, I really think that was God's main purpose for you being there. Hugs to you.

She is in my prayers......I would have silently un noticed, paid for their lunch.OUr town watched a little girl and her family suffer the acts of brain cancer on their little girl Jillian.I posted about her,not sure you saw the post,it was I am Jillian hear me roar.
Any medical condition puts a strain on a family in so many ways.finacial,emotional,physical.......
Everyone handles these things differently, some run, some turn their heads and try to wipe it out, some overload and embrace. If you truly HIT YOUR KNEES and pray, its the most powerful thing you can do.

How does that song go.... Sometimes the greater plan, is kinda hard to understand...

I probably would've done the same thing. And then dwelled on it for not doing anything. Don't feel bad. Just pray. God knows your hearts intention.

Going to make a donation to St. Jude. Thanks everyone. It's never easy to see anyone suffer, but babies....ugh.

We would have paid for their meal anonymously, we have done this more then a few times for someone that looked to need a little help or just for friends that didnt see us there that have done something nice for us.
Donation to St. Jude is a good way in helping others.

Praying for this little girl and her mom. May be that God put you there so you could pray and also you would ask others to pray. Where two or three gather together in His name He is there in their midst. Let's all pray in agreement for this little girl and her mom.

God bless you for having a caring heart and bringing this to others' attention so more folks are praying for her and her family. Dear God place your mighty hand of comfort and healing on this family that they know your peace and love. I also thank you for the caring people on here that will lift this child up in prayer. Amen

You have already done so much for that little girl and her family, simply by sharing this with us so that we can all pray for her.

I have learned that when my heart talks, I listen.

My husband and I paid for a meal annoymously to a WWII vet eating at Texas Roadhouse one night. He was alone, and my husband couldn't stop thinking about him. His only regret is that he didn't invite him over to sit with us.

I do not think you would have made the Mom feel bad/guilty for paying for their meal. It shows you care.
