Ok guys I am thinking about riding in a helmet.  I have 2 in my trailer that I have used for riding lessons and my daughter but when I put them on I feel like I have a ton of bricks on my head.  What is the most comfortable one and pro and cons
thanks

When did you buy the helmets? Older helmets are a lot heavier than the newer helmets.

I personally like Troxels. Keep in mind the slightest bump or drop on the ground can compromise the helmets integrety. It's recommended you buy a new helmet often to avoid structural damage inside the helmet.
That's why I like Troxel. They are very affordable and offer an average amount of protection. Buy a helmet cover and a hard carry case.

Both of my helmets are older.  They are both Troxel one blue and one white.

You really need to go try them on because they all fit so differently and what might seem comfy to one head, might pinch another lol :)  Also, the same brand (Troxel, Tipperary, etc)  might have several different styles and even THEY might fit differently.
Happy you'll be wearing a helmet!

Like Katie said. Each helmet fits different shaped heads so you need to try them on. Troxel helmets felt like I was in a vice. I bought a Tipperary and I forget I have it on my head.

We went to a lady who deals in just helmets.  Tried on Troxel, Ovation, and IRH helmets.  We ended up with Ovation helmets.

I've rode in a Troxel for the last 4+ years but just purchased a Uvex Perfexxion. On a side note, I tried on the Fallon Taylor helmets and those were really comfortable; I just wish it came in black lol

I have a Tipperary Sportage. It fits my oval head better than a Troxel. I will say that I get overheated in a helmet in the summer. Any helmet.

Where about do you live?
Teskey's has three or four rows of helmets. All sorts of brands. They even have toddler and extended sizes.

Totally agree with going and trying different helmets. I don't know what you are willing to spend, but I bought an English helmet called a Samshield after trying on a thousand helmets (or so it seemed). It is designed with the technology from a motorcycle helmet. To me, it was the most comfortable - so much so that I wear it all day and have been known to wear it into the house because I forget I have on. The liner snaps out for easy washing AND the liners come in different sizes like a cowboy hat so it can really be adjusted to each individual person. This thing has AMAZING airflow through it. You an feel a breeze inside the helmet, yet it EXCEEDS every American safety standard. It's pricy, but I wanted to find something that I would willingly wear every time I stepped on a horse because it is so comfortable - And I figure my brain is worth it. Good luck in finding what YOU like.
