| Regardless of your political views, this man didn't deserve to die with brain cancer. My uncle died of this also. It is not pretty. I hope you all will pray for his family that they have God's peace & God will help them through their pain & suffering |

I was shocked it happened so fast after announcing he was stopping treatments. Political views aside, may God give his family and friends peace and comfort during this time |

| That announcement seemed to me to a “death is imminent” announcement. My sister passed of brain cancer at age 42. It’s horrible thing for a person and family to go through. McCain lived 81 years of life...really low points and really high points. But 81 years is still a fairly long life. Prayers to his family. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | I’m guessing a lot of you don’t remember Admiral James Stockdale, but he was Ross Perot’s running mate in the ‘92 presidential election.
People knew he was a POW for several (7) years during the Vietnam War, in the “Hanoi Hilton”. They ran on a third party ticket. During the Vice Presidential debates, Stockdale debated Quale, and Gore, and he didn’t fare too well, partly because he was hearing impaired. People made fun of him, including skits on Saturday Night Live.
What people didn’t realize was that his hearing deficit was because he was beaten to within an inch of his life on several occasions. His ear drums were perforated, as a result. If you want a quick read on James Stockdale, this is a good summary and much of what he endured is described here:

McCain went through a similar hell, except his was a mere 5 years.
Regardless of his politics, with which I often disagreed, John McCain’s passing serves to remind me that men like him are incredibly special people. They gave our government a blank check on their lives so the rest of us can continue to enjoy freedom in the greatest country on earth.
It’s all incredibly humbling to me. I can’t even begin to imagine.
RIP Senator McCain |
