I went inside walmart last night bc I had to.  Couldnt do the pickup like I usually do.  I noticed that parents wearing masks but not their children.  Our walmart ask if you want a mask but doesnt make you wear one.

I dont have kids.

My question is how as a parent if you feel like masks protects you, why would you not make your child wear a mask? Why would you protect yourself but not your child.

If you go into a place that makes you wear a mask and not children I understand that.  But if you go into a place that doesnt make you wear a mask and you wear one bc you want to be protected but you dont make your child no matter age of child...I dont understand that.  Does someone know why?  Ive seen this soooo many times.

You will contaminate your self faster with a mask.

This may not be to your point but...

I know a family that was mask religious.  They wore mask everywhere and so did all their children including the 2 year old if they allowed them to go out.  They had mask for each day of the week and spares.  The mother chose to stay home and home school their children due to the fear of Covid.  Both parents ended up with Covid and the mother who stayed home was affected by it worse.  The children were fine, not a hint of Covid.   Go figure.

Because children very rarely have been sick with Covid. The ones that have had very serious underlying issues. Severe obesity, diabetes, heart condition. I will NOT put a mask on my 3 year old grandson. He is healthy, is outside A LOT ( vitamin d) and is very active.

It is my understanding that masks do more to protect others, not necessarily yourself. Or so, that's what "they" say.

I only wear a mask when I have to and I will not put a mask on my children. All they do is chew on them, play with them, and touch their faces even more.

Most areas around here do not require masks for children under 9 or 12 depending on the county.

Its no secret that I dont believe in masks.

Its just another thing that I dont understand. And if you have a choice on the mask that you would wear it but not your children bc you want to be protected.  Like I say I have none, but I know me, if I feel the need to protect myself I'm gonna make sure my children protected first.

My daughter in law is a school teacher and I hear her frustrating stories bout trying to keep masks on children! I get why not to put masks on children! I wouldnt want my child to have masks on and dont want my grandkids to have too either!

Just like the number of people you are around  all it takes is 1 person to pass it on so doesnt matter if you are around 1 person or 100 if you are going to get it.

My heart breaks for the children! and the school system making them wear masks! I'm sooo glad I'm not in school and have no children but I do have grandchildren by marriage and I'm sooo sad for them!

I am hearing more and more of families not getting together for the holidays!

I have seen a few families where one adult has on a mask & no one else in the family. My thought is that maybe they have a cold or they have a health problem.

In health care you are taught that a mask no matter what the reason for wearing is good for one use. Putting on before entering the room and taking off after leaving the room and immediately performing hand hygiene. Since Covid the majority of people wear there mask for multiple days if not weeks at a time before disposing or cleaning it. So consider the touching while taking on and off the places we store that nasty thing and the places u may have been or people you may have been around! So yes you are likely more susceptible to contracting Covid wearing your nasty filthy overused and abused mask!

Exactly.  Also do those who wear a mask find that their throat is scratchy afterwards?  That comes from not disposing of your disposable mask.  So I have been told.

I can wear a clean mask for 10 min before my throat is scratchy and I'm so thirsty that I'll guzzel water.  They also agrivate my lips which then causes cold sores.  Whenever possible I try not to wear one.  And I refuse to put one on my 5 year old, he's also home schooled right now because of this.

Try wearing a cloth mask if you haven't already.  They're much easier to breathe through and more comfortable on your face.  You do need to wash them often but it's worth it.  The paper masks are rough.
