Location: Alabama | I have a student that's in need of a new saddle. She's a little timid and nervous so she likes something with a deeper seat that makes her feel secure and helps hold her... What brands and kinds of saddles do y'all recommend and have good experiences with? |

| I just got a Triple Creek with a 5" cantle, and I love how secure the seat is without being *too secure* for me. If that makes sense. |

| Martha Josey has one that has a very deep seat. I believe it is called "The Cash". I was in the western store and Martha was showing it to me. Call them and ask about it. They are very nice to deal with. I work about 4 miles down the road. hehe |

| Bob Marshall gives you a very secure feeling...couldnt believe the difference for me.... i see alot of youth in my area ride in them as well. |

I personally feel claustrophobic in it, but it does make you feel very secure. My friend, who is also a very timid rider like your student, LOVES hers.

Location: Centerburg, OH | in addition to all mentioned above. I do love my Pro Rider. Right now it is about my favorite to run in, after riding in all mid range saddles.
Pro Riders keep you centered and on your pockets with your feet hanging straight down. (although Im sure Jermey can forward hang them for your on a custom order) The 4" cantle gives me all the security I need or want. But they can be built with a 5" cantle which might be better for her.

Location: relocated to Texas | I'm sorry, but I just have to say this. How about teaching her a correct seat so that she is not relying on a saddle to hold her in? Its ok to get a saddle that fits you, but if you have to wedge yourself into a saddle to stay on, IMO you need to go back to the basics. The truth is, when a saddle seat is too small, or has too high of a cantle it does not allow the rider to roll his/her hips and take a deep seat (back on your pockets). You can't because the saddle is in the way. So, it pitches the pelvis forward and makes for a less secure seat. Cutters and reiners have to learn to ride with a secure seat. That is the kind of seat that a barrel racer (or any western rider) should ride with. Tell her to get a ranch cutting saddle, it will help her develop a proper seat. |

| I second the choice of a Pro Rider..........it provides a secure seat because it is balanced ~ the ou can set down when needed,and get forward coming out when you need to. EXC saddle seatwise......I would prob buy the upgraded leather option , it is well worth it |

| I third the Pro Rider! Can't say enough nice things! I broke my colt in mine and I run in it.. Super, super secure, but you can still move around and keep a correct seat! Hope that makes sense!  |

| I had a more off brand barrel saddle that I now wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of! It was called a Ran Ten from Alabama. Not the nicest out there, but they're not bad and are so comfortable! Mine had a deep seat. They seem kind of hard to find though. I also have to add, because someone mentioned that cutting teaches you to have a good seat. I'm still not the best rider ever but I learned cutting before barrel racing and boy did it teach me a lot! Definitely teaches you some balance and is a lot harder than it looks. Lol |
