| has anyone had this happen? on Monday was driving it in the yard pulling a small trailer full of limbs and it just stopped dead in its tracks and wouldn't start - towed it to the dealer and they said on Tues morning when they primed it that it started right up - Tuesday afternoon they said that it was still losing its prime and possibly a water separator sensor? |

| This happened to me on my 2007..it took a couple of times to figure it out...tell it died in the middle of the road..there was something wrong with the fuel filter housing and the sensor...had to replace both...cost about 450 but that solved it..make them fix it cause it will happen again...it wont just wont loose prime for no reason..good luck |

| well when I picked it up they said that every time they started it, it started and ran like a champ, a friend of mine said hers did this one time and never happened again and it was in the heat of our Florida summer where we are in the feels like of 100+ and the condensation builds up and the heat and that is why it "vapor locked". Will see if it happens again and if it does then I will make them replace the fuel filter housing |

Location: Michigan | Buy a filter housing rebuild kit, most likely a leaking seal that is bleeding off your pressure. Merchant Auto online should have kits available.

| well the dealer couldn't find any leaks previously and this past Friday when I had my trailer on and had just arrived in Ocala, I left the truck running which I was figuring out where to park and then I parked the trailer, disconnected and turned the truck off, got it all unhooked and started it and pulled forward, turned it off and then realized I needed to put the truck at the back of the trailer to load the stuff to take to the stall and it would not start; my friend was there and she told me to open the hood and she pressed the "primer button thing" and it started right up and it was fine the rest of the weekend. My husband did come up on Saturday and switch trucks with me just for safety driving home. This is very aggravating, dealer could find no leaks. |

| Twice my GMC has not started unless the fuel filter is primed. Mechanic could find no leaks or cause for this. I got on a diesel forum and was told it was an air leak:

Most people rebuild the filter head as it's cheap and not very hard. Kits can be purchased from most vendors on here. It's hard to find leaks as the CP3 pump suck fuel from the tank through the filter to the pump. One way to check for leak is to pressurize the tank with air at a low pressure and have someone check all lines and filter head while pressurized. Hope this helps. __________________ 07-21-2014, 02:17 PM eBay Motors # 3 ( permalink) Quad Life Join Date: Jul 2013 Location: Wesley Chapel, Florida Posts: 245 i searched and found this thread...

| Thanks, going to print this out and take it to the dealer; they said they could find no fuel leaks, but air may be another thing. |

Location: lost in missouri | There is a line that feeds your primer, it is known to be a prime place for an air leak to develop and most mechanics dont think to look there. That is where we find a lot of trucks leaking off their prime. It isnt that much to replace it. it is a cheap place to start and I cant tell you how many times people look to the big things first only to find out it was right at the primer. |

| This happened to me on my 2011, but it would do it when it sat for more than 24 hours with less than a 1/4 of a tank of fuel. If you primed the fuel filter it started right up. They ended up changing the water in fuel sensor and I haven't had an issue since. That was last fall. |

| well it just did it for the third time; drove it from the house at lunch time back to work it sat for 3 hours and left at 2:30 to go to an appt and at 3:30 when I left the appt the truck started and then it cut off; opened the hood primed it and it started; drove it straight to the dealership! It will be paid for next Friday so it is very aggravating! |

Location: North MS | It could also be a small pinhole in the fuel line. Happened to a friend of mine this weekend. The repair place ended up replacing a fuel line. |

| well I have been driving it all weekend and so far no problem, will use it on Saturday to haul the trailer and will see what happens; but the dealer did say that when they pushed the prime button they saw fuel coming out from around the fuel filter housing..... told them if it was not fixed this time that I would be driving into the bays myself, putting on a lift and start going thru it myself! |
