Any suggestions on where to get a copy of a bit? I only have photos of it and can't seem to find the exact one online. I also don't want to spend $200+ on it either so any suggestions would be helpful!

Can't whoever you use to make to bit be charged or sued with copyright infringement?

Shallow Creek or L&W. I've used both. Both of there prices are about the same on standard bits. I would go to Shallow Creek first just because they have helped us out with donating stuff for benefits. I will always try to support business that will support us.

Well since she stated that she can't find the replica anywhere I doubt it. Plus if you went through the trouble of having a copyright on it, wouldn't you be selling them?

I am asking, as one cannot duplicate photos without the photographers permission, actually you aren't even supposed to use watermarked photos and I see this done all the time with horses for sale.

Designing and building bits is expensive, and I would think these guys would protect their work.

I seen she doesn't want to pay $200 for the bit, and I know Dave Elliott bits are close to $200 to have him build one.

To the op have you posted a picture of the bit on this page to see if anyone recognizes it

It may not be a professionally taken picture-- that is what I assumed. I was guessing that it is an old bit she tried of someones and they cannot remember where it was made and no indication of who designed it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried the bit from someone and they can't find a mark on it and they got it at an auction for pretty cheap but she uses it to ride colts in so she doesn't want to part with it!

Carolina Bit. WAY better service than L&W for the same quality.

They actually answer and get back to you. And send you the correct bit you ordered.....

Seems like L&W service has gone downhill the last few years. I know several who just couldn't get the correct bits they ordered.
