Hi. Does anyone have a list of items they would pack for a 4 day barrel race? I want to make sure I don't forget anything :)

No list- I take everything but the kitchen sink.  Meds/supplies in case horse gets cut or hurt, bannomine, bute for same reason.  Hoses for hook ups, long hose for barn so don't have to haul water to stalls, pick to clean stalls, extra feed and hay just in case.  I get a tack stall now that I go by myself and take 3 horses, worth the $$ for the convenience of not having to go back and forth to the trailer to feed, etc.   I keep a cooler of drinks in the tack stall- it gets hot here in south Texas.  Have fun!!

Thanks you gave me some things that I wouldn't have thought of; hose, cooler for stall :) This is my first time going and I am so excited to go I can see myself leaving a key item so I am trying to prep in advance. Thank you!!

Definately a cooler with drinks and snacks!  So much cheaper and convenient!!  They have an ice machine in the barn area - i think its by the offices. Also bring a fold up chair or two. We usually will hang out in the barn area by our horses from time to time. I have never brought a hose to south point - There have always been really long hoses to fill my buckets. I assumed they belong to South Point, but maybe they were personally owned by someone. SUNBLOCK if you will be at the pool. Saddle stand (i really did forget this one year), bridle hooks, first aid kit, water/feed/grain buckets, lock for tack stall (they are not provided - sad to say, but stuff gets stolen every year). Some folks hang a sign on their stall for emergency contact info.

We went last year for the first time and back again this year. If you haven't already I would get an extra stall. We go with a group so we split it so its not so bad but its a lot better then having to drive to your trailer every time you need something. A bucket strap (or hay string) to tie up grain buckets the bars are too big for most bucket clips. They leave the lights on 24 hours if I'm not mistaken so we took flymask just to take some of the brightness out for night. Its a controlled temperature so we took a flysheet and light blanker but never needed it. But we pretty much took everything out of our trailer. The one nice thing is they have a little feed store there and a vet there. Last year we actually had to use her for one of the horse in our party nothing serious but it was nice to walk down two rows of stalls and be right there at the vets. Its a lot of fun one thing we thought was really cool last year was they have bellhops in the barn so when we got done with the horse all our bags where already in our rooms which was nice. There are guys there to help load your trailer and help you move stuff at least they did for us.

Every year I take less and less.  No need for hose as stayed above they are provided.  The extra tack stall is a must and I get the floor mats because it is concrete floors.  A cooler in the tack stall
is very convenient.  I pack very few pairs of pants but a shirt for each day.  Leave them all in the tack stall so you can change into and out of them without having to go back to your room.  We are not used to the hot temps in June so it is climate shock for us so we spend very little time in jeans.  My trailer is always loaded with everything I need for an emergency if I for some reason need it and can go get it otherwise I keep it simple and basic.  It's less to pack in and pack out even tho they are very helpful and have the unloading process down to a science.  They work very well for tips and it is so worth it.  Even delivering everything to your room.  We also keep coolers of drinks and fruit, veggies and sandwich fixins in the room to cut down on the expense and make sure we eat at least one healthy meal a day.  It is a lot of fun!

I bring a table for the tack stall. I find myself using it a lot. I also brin some tape and tape my draw # to the tack stall along with my friends draw #. It is so fun. I'm gettin excited

Vegas native here :)

Extra tack stall is a must! You'll be walking across the street to the next parking lot to get your tack if you don't.

Definitely agree on the fan, it's climate controlled but still very hot.

And finally soft rides! Every single year I see horse after horse slip and fall on the concrete. Its so dangerous!

Whenever I go anywhere I always pack at least 1 day extra feed if I'm close to home. If I'm farther than a couple hours I pack 2 days extra. You never know when you'll have trailer or truck trouble and be stranded for a little bit, it's a way better feeling to know you've got sometime to figure out what to do with the horses and you've still got enough feed to keep them on their regular schedule.

Have fun - never been to Vegas but can't imagine it being anything but a blast when it's combined with a barrel race
