Has anyone ever had a horse that can't raise it's tail? She can raise it a little but can't swish it. She pees on it when she has to go. Anyone please?

No it's not broken. Acts like nerve damage. But from what?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Pleasure people do this quite a bit. They do a nerve block in the tail by injecting alcohol and other substances. There's several different methods & it can go wrong.

If you've had the horse a long time and it's something new.... does she have strength in her tail if you try to move it yourself? Can she pull against you?

Things I would look at would be she strained or injured it somehow or nerve damage, or maybe EPM or some kind neuro disease.

Was this horse ever with a pleasure horse trainer????? For showing or halter classes? It used to be pretty common to have the tail nerved so they would not be able to raise it in the show ring.

Is this a new developement? My guess is she fell, sat down in a slip and has damaged some nerves. Is she other wise standing and moving normally?

We have treated her 30 days for EPM. I can raise her tail up and pull on it. She will pull on me. I was wondering if a horse can get a pinched nerve?
