Sorry if this question has been asked already--I missed it. Osfus is the new, inexpensive injectable that works like Tildren for osteo problems in horses (and helps heal inflamation and promote new bone growth); I was told it can bring a grade 3-4 lame horse down to a 2 or even a 1. $280 for one quick shot shot, vs $1,000 for Tildren administered slowly through IV bag. If you have a horse with feet, legs, neck, shoulders, etc, this may be the miracle you are searching for, is what I have been told. So, him having a mysterious on-off limp, nothing showing on any xrays except a shadow so slight 2 vets won't call it anything, I got him the shot. A 10 day down time, then ride, which I have just started. Seems ok, but....jury is out. Any opinions yet? Thanks!

You may already know but make sure you give banamine with it.  Just had a person call and their horse coliced because they hadn't given the banamine.

My mare just had a dose about 12 weeks ago. No change in her lameness.:( I was told not to give any antiinflammatory medications for first 6 weeks because like osphos most of it is filtered thru the kidneys and can cause bad damage if used together. My vet made me wait for two hours at the clinic after giving it the first time to make sure she did not get colicky I guess it is a common thing. My mare was fine but obviously still lame :/

Only one horse out of 200 had colic with Osphos in clinical trials. It was a miracle for one of my horses with broken navicular bone. But now that he is on curost he has maintained awesome.

Have you thought about trying the Curost products? Pentosen might also help. Is it a bone or tendon/ligament issue?

Pentosan has worked well for my gelding, but for hocks. I have not tried Osphos.

Just did the round of Tildren in December. If my horse survives the joint infection I can let you know if it worked

I'm personal friends with VCCPRES and she knows of Curost and has some in the mail from me!

My horse was given OsPhos shot Dec 22. I'm disappointed. No improvement.
The sound of a toilet flushing (my $350) is all I hear when I think about it.

Joint infection from the Tildren?  I'm sorry about your horse.  :(

As far as Osphos.  Yes, I have given it to a horse with a stress fracture to her coffin bone.  We go for a follow up MRI in April.  I can tell you that she looks great and hasn't taken a lame step for a while.  Time will tell and I don't know if it will be the Osphos that has done wonders or stall rest, or isoxuprine or the mineral I was told to give her!  The vet there did tell me that he has had success with the Osphos and he was skeptic.  And I did not get the Osphos from him, so he wasn't trying to sell it to me either.  I'm sure that the horses problem is going to reflect if the Osphos works for them or not.

I highly encourage anyone considering this treatment option to read this article in full prior to administering the injection.  This medication used to be used frequently in human medicine but is no longer prescribed due to severe long term side effects even after one dose.  These side effects absolutely could dramatically increase the chance of catastrophic breakdowns even years after the medication was administered due to bone not being able to remodel as it should, therefore it actually will decrease bone density dramatically long term and make a horse more susceptible to fracture and injury.  https://www.grayson-jockeyclub.org/resources/bones.pdf

Not from the Tildren, he had IRAP injections to his navicular bursa that apparently became infected. Jury is still out on that.

Had one dose of OsPhos on Tucker, I decided to try it even though I was also starting him on Cur-ost as he had been having some small issues with his feet on and off over the last year and a half and the x-rays showed some issues with the coffin bones and a bit with the navicular bones also. We haven't really addressed the issues quit entirely with his feet as he also had an enormous abscess that was found and he had to have some special padding on that foot for the time being until we get that sole to fill back in. He has not taken a lame step since 2 weeks after the Osphos shot and about 3 weeks of the Cur-ost. Hopefully this next shoeing shows the abscessed area filled in and we can really get to work on the angles and shoeing changes needed to get him ready to run again. He was released to be ridden at the walk and add short periods of trotting in to the program also after the last appointment. Tucker didnt' have any issues with the OsPhos shot, Dr. Wally did not give him banamine with it but we did watch him closely for the next few hours. I wanted to get him the Osphos and then support that with the Cur_0st and so far it seems to be working.
