| Who uses essential oils on their horses? I just started using doterra essential oils for calming and respiratory support for my horses. I am interested in hearing your stories and how you use the oils. Do you use a carrier oil when applying? Thanks! |

Location: Where you need a paddle... Oregon! | I had someone come do body work on my mare in December and she used oils. I could see my mare relaxing. I went ahead and made some mixes to use on her, with just the oils I already owned. I bought little glass spray bottles at the health food store and made a "muscle soreness" mix and a "mental clarity" mix. I spray her spots which tend to get sore and stiff with the muscle mix and I spray the mental one up on her poll, like the other gal did. My mare is pretty stoic and not expressive or soft. I can see her turn almost doe-eyed and calm when I use the spray.
Edited to add: I use regular water with mine. The other gal used distilled water, but she said it would be fine if I used regular water.

| Yes I always use a carrier oil - fractionated coconut oil. Having said that, my horse doesn't seem to like the oils much. Once though, when he had a puncture wound on his forearm, his whole leg blew up. Nothing helped with the swelling, not bute or sore no more or DMSO, so I mixed cypress and FCO and the swelling went way down. A day later it was completely gone.
I also really like YL Animal Scents ointment. It heals well and keeps the flies away better than anything else I have used. |

| I love my YL oils. I use valor, peace and calm and sometimes stress away. They are so awsome for myself and my horse. You can watch them visibly relax. I always use a carrier oil also. |

Yes, Frank and helichrysum. I also love turmeric. I really think the cur-ost is killing the bacteria that's harming our horses. I just use it in oil form at the source of the infections. |

Thanks! What brand do you buy of the turmeric oil? Doterra doesnt make it. Also with the nebulizer being plastic how are you giving your oils in the nebulizer? Are you diluting with distilled water? Do you mix the oils or do you nebulize each one separate? What is your routine? Thank you!!!! |

Melissa is going to get a go at one of my colts I'm hoping that he will settle down and not be so speed hungry. He ran uptight at his first two races. Love Ruta Va La as well for those hot messes. I just rub it on at the poll.

Location: My own little world :) | This is so cool! I love my essential oils for myself and my family! I have used them a few times on my horses when they had wounds and I tried to concoct a fly spray but it didn't really work that well. Would any of you be willing to share your recipes so we could all enjoy them? And I mean recipes of anything not just the fly spray. I would be so grateful! I just think about all the chemicals in fly spray and the other lotions and potions we use on our horses and how they can't be good for them. Thanks  |

Location: Wherever They Send Me | I pre-mixed peppermint and lavender with water and put it them after I ride...not only do they smell good, but its good for the muscles. I put Balance, lavender and Frank on her chest before we warm up...I think it helps with nerves, hers and mine.  |
