I’ve only tried it once on myself and once on a horse. Actually, my gal is traveling through the area so I have to decide if I want to do it again. I didn’t notice any difference on me personally, but multiple massage sessions haven’t helped ether so I’m not sure what I have going on. I also didn’t notice any change in my horse.

The gal told me about a bunch of success stories and a guy I know had her work on him and he did get immediate results.

So, jury is out. I think it’s really going to depend on what the injury is and how much you can use it. Would love to hear other’s experiences.

I am currently using one on a mare who has some borderline navicular issues. She also has a small calcium deposit in the fetlock area. I've been using it every other day for 2 weeks. I "think" it has help but we've also done some pretty extensive corrective shoeing which has also helped. So, again jury is still out? I hope to have her x-rayed soon so that may tell me more on her progress.

I also use it on myself. I had knee surgery last year, which didn't really fix anything. I can tell if I don't use it for several days.

I have a friend with one, she has worked on me and my husband both. I had tendinitis in my elbow and aggravated it at Joseys this year- I had a horse coming back to the finals and couldn’t use my hand! It took two sessions but I was pain free the next day! My husband is a former football player and has some lingering neck issues because of it- she worked on him when she worked on me and he said it was the first time he had slept all night in months! We believe!

I've used it on my horses and myself.  In my opinion it depends which machine you have.  I had one gal work on me and my horses with the bigger machine and I could tell a difference immediately, especially with my back.  Then I used someone that had the smaller PEMF machine and I couldn't tell a difference in my horses or myself.

I rented a PEMF machine (and it was huge at the time) about 10 years ago for a few young horses I was running. They loved it and so did I!
If I were retired I would do equine sports rehab and I would have the best of the best in PEFM in my van.

good to know. I was wondering about the power diffrences with the types of machines offered. I have heard that you don't need all the extra power, however my only experience was with the higher power units and I got results.

I have the magna wave semi machine. It's 35% less power then the max. Ive had it now for almost 2 months.  I bought it strictly for my good mare that is recovering from a pelvic fracture that is giving her some SI issues. Ive noticed a big difference in her especially since I am starting her rehab. I have another gelding that had a hamstring pull that Ive been using it on while I start riding him again.  I also have an older gelding I can not inject anymore due to founder. I can only do IRAP on him which I opted not to due because of the price. I run him on pentasan, previcox and magnawave treatments. This fall hes done great with it. I need to use it on my self... I am to busy using it on all my injured horses to take the time LOL. But with lower power machines not being as effective, are you talking about the semi verus the max machine?

I have the Maxx machine - which is the higher powered machine.

You really don't need the higher power to achieve the results - you can get the same results with the Semi . Horses really cannot tolerate a higher setting, if you were to use the same setting you use on a horse as yourself you wouldn't feel much of anything or see any of the muscle palpitation - we think we have to "feel" something for it to work but even if you are not feeling anything it is still working. The only difference with the Semi your PEMF sessions should be longer to than with the Maxx to achieve the same results. The only time you use a high setting on a horse is for pulling out abscesses. Which is very effective in doing!

If you are interested in purchasing it for personal use Semi is much more affordable. Find someone in your area and schedule an appointment, most are very knowledgeable. You can also reach out to Magna Wave they are always willing to answer any questions or concerns.

There are other PEMF machines out there but I do not know much about them.

Is there a specific issue you are having that you are wanting to use the PEMF therapy for?

I recently used one on myself one day when my shoulder was bothering me and a headache. There was definitely no improvement and I continued to feel worse the rest of the day. The little shock feeling was pretty annoying too. IMO this is another gimmick.

i was going to use to help with back soreness issues. and help with stifle and hocks as well. I have tried it out before, I was skeptical til I tried it on horse. by the third treatment he was working better and actual ran .6 sec faster on the third day.

Just curious do you know what type of machine you used? There is no "shock" with PEMF . A Tens unit would be a machine with a "shock".

Clinical studies have actually proven that PEMF is not a gimmick. Will a person see miraculous results in one treatment? Likely not, but like anything I think the more you use it the better the results. In my opinion, its always best to know the root cause of the underlying issue; the cost of treatments alone should make a person want to know what they are trying to heal with the use of this machine. IMHO PEMF, like other therapies, should not replace veterinarian care, rather be used as an alternative healing modality.
I've had PEMF done on myself and absolutely loved it. I get really sore shoulders and neck from sitting at a desk all day. It really helped loosen up my shoulders, neck, and back muscles. I wish I had unlimited financial resources because I'd love to have it done weekly as long as my symptoms persist.
