| I have a saddle with the bear trap swells. I felt real secure in it. My understanding is the term bear trap is just a configuration of the swells, that you could have that done to your saddle when you order it? |

Location: /ARKANSAS | I had a bear trap saddle years ago, did not keep it long, the swells bruised my legs and would not let me get up enough in the run. |

| I didn't think about bruising your legs. |

| My mom had one years ago. She did not run barrels in it but it also bruised her legs often. |

Location: midwest mama | I love them. I feel much more secure in them. I have ridden them off and on for years - depending on the horse. No bruising. LOL
Gerald Bethune makes one and so does Double J. Both good quality.

I love mine also I haven't ever had it bruise me though I have one by Gerald Bethune. I'm actually searching for another for my daughter right now because they do offer a little security with her just starting out. |

Location: Somewhere around here | My first barrel saddle actually had the bear trap swells and my thighs never bruised. Yet again, I was 110lbs at the time and fit into a 14 inch lol. Anyway, I loved it and wish I never sold it. From what I recall though there wasn't a brand in there.

Location: n.c. | We have 3. Two Bethunes and one Dakota. Love all of them. Never any bruising and it does help with the security aspect. |

| Gerald bethune's will help keep you in and not bruise your thighs. If they do, its more than likely your saddle is too small.
I ride in a round front, but usually end up riding in my moms bear trap when I need an extra.

| My saddle with the bear trap swells is an old American. The tree actually fit well and I rode it for many years. Never any brusing and loved the security. I still have it, just haven't ridden in a treed saddle for a few years now. |
