Looking at buying a horse and we are hoping to meet them in Dallas area to try him out and have him vetted. Who is the lameness guru in that area that would be best for prepurchase exam?

Also, anyone else know of an arena that will let you lease steers to try a horse out around that arena as well?

Oh that I would not know as we live 65 miles east of Lone Star Park but I highly recommend Wes, he is our lameness vet. I'm sure someone on here can get you hooked up close by the area with an arena and some steers.

Try Wade's Arena in Terrell, they usually always have steers.

Yup, and they aren't rediculously over priced to rent. Only $10 an hour I think

Not sure, horse will be coming from LA and we are meeting in Dallas from Wyoming since my boyfriends dad lives in Dallas. Just need to find somewhere where he can try the new horse out and decide for sure if it will be a good fit. I think we are getting him vetted in LA now but still would like to find somewhere to rope on him before deciding 100%

Yes wades in terrell will have steers. They practice on Thursdays just show up an pay to play. They have good mix of fast and slow steers to give you a true feel for the horse.

I was thinking of Wade's too when you asked about steers but I thought you wanted to be close to Lone Star Arena where Dr Williams is.  If you decide to not do the LA route Wade's is probably 50 miles from Lone Star Park Equine.  If y'all need a place to overnight pm me, I'm only 20 miles east of Wade's which is pretty much off of I-20 in Terrell.

Oh aren't you nice! We will probably stay over in Amarillo since my SO's mom lives there so figured we will visit his dad in Dallas and hit up mom on the way back!

Oh cool.  I love Amarillo, used to live there (actually Canyon).  Good luck with the horse shopping. Fun, fun, fun!
