Location: Four Corners Colorado | Who is the most adorable Jack Russel terrier, who will follow you around, and sit up and do tricks. He best trick is running away to my house. His owners have tired everything but, you know putting up a gate or fencing their yard. They have even tied him up but this dog is so smart he can untie knots. He is at my house 2-3 times day. I take him home all the time and they never know that he is he gone, but they love him very much!
I have tried chasing him home, yelling at him, talking to him but he refuses to stay away. Does anyone know any tricks to get a dog to go home? I don't mind his company but I don't want him to get hit on the road on the way to my house.

Location: here there and everywhere! | unfortunately it seems the little guy is attached to you!
it would probably be best if they get him an electric fence setup. that way he can run free but still in their yard!
that or you might have found a new dog!

Location: Southeast Louisiana | The ONLY thing mine respects is electricity. Everything else is just a challenging puzzle and she enjoys figuring out how to work around it (fencing, figuring out how to get off of a chain or get untied, etc.) The owner would have to put up an electric fence wire, tho. Not much you can do once they decide they're going to like your place better. |

Location: Four Corners Colorado | I don't think they will put up an electric fence too much of a hassle I guess. They have an old dog and a new puppy and two or three kids so the dog has someone to play with. He just comes over and follows me while I do chores and then chills on my porch like he owns the place. The first night he showed up they were on vacation and I didn't know who he belonged to so I kept him overnight because he was shivering cold on the porch. They came home the next day so its not like he got settled in. Shoot the poor thing even scratches at my door like I should let him, barks at strangers who pull in the drive way. I just don't want him to get hit and they don't seem to really care. It makes me sad because he wants to be such a good little dog. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Sometimes we choose a pet...and sometimes they choose US. I'd say give in and let him stay. He will be safer and you will have a devoted furry buddy.

That's probably what I would do as well. He likes you. And it sounds like you like him as well.
If they loved and cared for him as much as you do, they would do something about keeping him home and safe. He would obviously have a good home/family with you... keep him!! If they want him back, they know where he is and should come to you and get him (bet they won't go through the hassle....) |

If they want him they can just keep coming and getting him. Once they are tired of it he will be more than welcome to stay here! |

Location: MD | I understand this may be annoying to you. I think I have met one Jack Russell in my whole life that I didn't like. The dog is certainly acting like he wants to live with you! Maybe he should just come and stay for a couple of days and see if he starts missing his owners. Maybe he's being grateful for you bringing him in that night when his owners were on vacation. Sounds like a real sweet dog! |
