| My mare is a stunning, light yellow palomino.......when she is in heat her butt, legs and tail get so dirty and sticky and gross I can't stand it....now that it is to cold to give her a bath I can't find anything that works to keep her clean. Brushing doesn't work.....I tried some dry shampoo......didn't work...tried Cowboy Magic yellow spot remover...didn't work.....HELP..anyone have any tips for this disgusting problem? |

| Is it only when she is in heat? I had a gray mare that would do the same thing, except it was pretty much all the time. The reason was, she was pooling urine, which is very common in older mares, then the urine would leak out and would always make a mess. If that is a problem they can fix it fairly easily with a simple surgical procedure. |

| Mine does the same thing... her nice white tail gets nasty and the back of her legs. I'd like to know too. I've been washing her tail and legs off, even when its cold out, I just make sure not to get her body. It's cold but I don't know what else to do... Nasty little h**ker. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I knew one that had a uterine infection and would get really messy during her cycles. The only other thing I can think of is to maybe put some vasoline down her butt cheeks and inner thighs to keep the ick from sticking? But I'm sure dirt and stuff would stick to that so I don't know? |

| If you're looking for something to clean her up with ....
We've used this on sheep and cattle for years when we don't want to full bath for various reasons. I have recently used it on my mares with no issues. If you're looking for an easy product to "wash" with - you literally spray it on and rub it off. No need to rinse out and it will not ruin hair or hurt skin.

ETA - this will remove urine stains, manure stains, and all sorts of crap leaving the hair really clean ... just spray on, towel off.

| Calm Coat (mainly tea tree oil) is what I use because it smells awesome, keeps ice from sticking, its anti microbial so it keeps all the nasty crusty ice away. Its expensive but i love it for messy mares and gelding who get splash back urine stains. |

Something to keep in mind, maybe a cyst on an ovary. Those can keep a mare in heat. |
