This is my friends cute little 4 year old who is barrel training right now. She is registered AQHA (easy on the frost), but we were curious as to weather she has a high enough white sock to qualify for APHA?

No white is not high enough. Pretty sure it has to go above the knee. And APHA now has the one-paint parent rule.

I would check with APHA. Cuz when we had paint/quarter horses we had a few that were debatable and I remember it as being at least a quartered size spot above the knee line or behind the centered line of the lip.

I've been wondering about this colt. I just need to take the time and call APHA. I'd heard that they changed the rule about one parent needing to be registered APHA, but wondered what year that went into effect and if you could grandfather one in. This colt has the one stocking that goes up to his hock, what do you think about him?

Now I would think this one would qualify. Now awhile back it had to be above the knee are hocks. If this one dont then hes pretty darn close I would think.

I think it would definitely be worth it with all of the incentives they are doing for paints. Guess I better put in a call and see if I can get him double registered.

Hmmmm, I've got one that might qualify then. His stockings are not above the knee or hock BUT his entire bottom lip is white. Didn't I just read that somewhere on here? Guess it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

I'm not sure either would qualify. The reference point is through the knee/hock and the white must extend two inches. Neither parent must be APHA if the color requirements are met.

He's at the trainer's right now, so I can't get a close up of it. But I found this old picture and zoomed in. What do you think based on this?
