I always think it looks nice and classy when I see a horse and rider with white as their main color; like white boots with a white saddle pad and maybe some white on their tack. I would think that would be so much upkeep though to keep everything clean and nice though! I started thinking about having everything BLACK and it reminds me of a "Johnny Cash" sort of feel. What are your opinions?

I like white, has that clean fresh feel and look to it, but not for every day use, but going to a barrel race would look nice. I would use my every day stuff for working at the house so I can keep my whites nice and tidy for those specilal days, LOL..

I like contrast so prefer white on dark colors like blacks and bays and like black on lighter horses like palominos or greys. Chestnuts can go either way. I usually buy stuff in either black or colors because keeping white things white is just not worth it for me.

I personally love black on everything except a black horse... I use black on all of mine (gray, buckskin paint, and sorrel). Plus it's wayyy easier to keep clean. I think white is way too overdone on sorrels, I think black on mine makes her stand out more than white would.

I prefer black just because it doesn't get/look as dirty.

I like white on sorrels, chestnuts and black just looks natural. I like to see black on bays, buckskin and some grays it just looks to me more natural.

I love the look of white on a darker colored horse, but keeping them clean would be a struggle. My SO uses white boots on his dark bay mare and it looks good but they don't stay bright white for very long. I've thought about doing white for my bay, but I'm afraid the upkeep would be a pain because I'd want them bright white, not dingey and dull. I have heard that you can scotch guard them before you use them the first time to help keep dirt off of them. Also, I've found that using OxyClean and soaking the boots in a bucket is a good way to get them cleaned up. Right now I have turquoise boots and just throw them on and don't worry.

I love white!! I have all white tack, but it only comes out for runs and my boots and reins gets washed after every use. My boots are over a year old and there are still bright.

Very pretty and classy, I love white, I bought a beautiful headstall from Running Roam Tack and its white, bought it for my brown gelding, but will be use the way your doing it for special events. I will be getting more of the white tack for him but its got to be really nice befor I buy it.

I love white on most color horses (not white on a white horse though .... can't see it!) but I agree that I only bust it out for "special" runs because they are a pain to clean. Red's headstall is a zebra print with most of it being white. I find it looks snappy on him.

I've been using black boots on my dark grey horse ... and I must say he looks "tall, dark, and handsome!" in his black boots. But I'm probably biased.

I'm partial to white. I think its simple and super classy. To me its totally worth the extra time to keep it clean.

I'm on the drill team down here, and for performance we use mostly all white... headstalls, reins, breastcollars, polos, saddle blankets. If we do a different color polo, we have matching saddle blankets to go with. But our tack never changes. For barrels, I think it's nifty when they coordinate with the riders shirts. I love that! Although I haven't done it...yet. But my dark bay usually runs in white polos, and white blankets to match his white stripe on his face...I do get lots of compliments !
