Location: Oklahoma & Texas | Treating a gelding now...he had some mild neuro issues and I had a gut feeling after having a mare with it a few years back..so I had him tested and vet did some neuro tests on his reflexes and whatnot...sure enough came back positive....after having treated my last mare unsuccessfully with MARQUIS, the sulfa combo, and diclazuril...i tried Oroquin 10 it was called now it is called Orogin and it worked...same vet and clinic in florida doing the trial just further along in the trial now...i have no doubt this will soon be the #1 drug for epm soon....my gelding is already better and he's only 6 days in...you only treat for 10 days on this med..if they are still symptomatic she has a 14 day treatment with just one part of the orogin ( orogin is 2 drugs -Levamisole and Decoquinate )...this treatment is far more effective with far better results then any out there...look up Dr Ellison at pathogenes online...you can call her she will be there and answer questions and will work with your local vet...meds cost 200 for 10 days...60 dollars for the 14 day follow up treatment..hands down best thing out there..it also worked for a friend of mines gelding who was worse than the one I'm treating now. Goodluck...epm is a sucky thing to have to deal with. |

Location: Oklahoma | Orogin and I've re-tested him twice since treatment and he's been good. Didn't get to bring back into running fully because he has some other issues, but truth be told they're probably partially to blame for his issues. |

Dr. Ellison - Pathogenes
She created Orogin and you have to get it through her.

This. I tested my mare last summer and she had very high titers. I treated her with Origin and followed up with NeuroQuel. She responded immediately and I really think is 100%. I re-tested her this spring and about a month ago because I'm a worry wart and both times her titers have been super low and no treatment recommended. |

I agree.
I've treated two horses. One had severe muscle atrophy in her hind end, and the other had a sudden behavior change. |

Location: Piedmont, OK | Orogin is supposed to be the best from what I have heard. I strongly suggest putting them on Acetyl-L-Carnatine aka Alcar while treating them. It helps repair any nerve damage done by the protozoa. Animal Element has Alcar available if interested. |

| Thank you, I'm not located in Florida so I'm not too sure about how well that will work...
I've also been told that MVP Exceed 6 way has something as well. We are trying this and we will go from there if we see no difference.... I was recommended to MVP by my local equine vet as they use it on their horses as well...
I'm hoping to see some kind of difference, someway.
Thank you guys for all your input.
We have taken him to the vet, and had him on some medication last year, I don't recall what it was called, but he did not react properly to it. There was no improvement, or getting worse, he basically stayed the same. |

You send blood work to Dr. Ellison. Check out the website, it gives you all the info. It's cheap too. |

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | Go to the website..it's easy your vet will FedEx a tube of blood... if you already have a positive test she'll send you the meds before she tests the sample you are sending..but she will need a tube of blood for her testing so you'll have to send one regardless if you have tested yourself...she is awesome and hands down the best way to go. |

Location: NE Texas | Something to keep in mind after treatment is finished, if there is nerve damage from the disease, these horses may continue to show signs we think are an active case, but in reality, the parasite has been eliminated, but due to nerve damage, the horse still tests positive through clinical evaluation......kind of like an intoxicated person would react similarly to someone who has been very sleep deprived in a sobriety test, showing a lack of CP function. |

| I had a super nice bred mare. She was STUNNING but she was CRAZY like dangerous crazy. She's nearly killed me on several occasions. I've never been afraid of a horse in my life but I was genuinely scared for my life every time I climbed on her. She was never lame or sore. Her insanity was only partially due to the EPM. A local witch doctor played with her tail and told us she had EPM. We got a second opinion (for obvious reasons) from an actual vet. They did blood work and her results came back in positive. We treated her for a month with marquis (maybe I spelled that right?) and it went back into remission. I started riding her again but we went dealt with a great deal of lameness after that. We decided to breed her and sold the mare after weaning the filly. |

Location: South Central Florida | We spent 2 years with symptoms and friends recommending treating. A bunch of weird stuff all seemingly unrelated. Last straw she went crazy in the trailer, and kicked the back wall of my trailer to pieces. Got it fixed, rested her and she did it again, and cracked a tiny bone on the outside of her hock. 8 months off, and after changing some things and she did it again but kicked the back door off my aluminum trailer going down the road. The middle hinge held and we got stopped. Finally treated for EPM with out the spinal tap test. We used ReBalance. I think it was 3 treatments. She came back with in a month. We started running her after about a month and continued the treatments. Since then we retreat once a year. I know several people that have had great success after treatments and many used different treatments. A lot of people have success with using 2 different treatments. We will probably vary the treatments as the years go by but she filled her permit and won her first WPRA after the treatment. So sometimes they can come back! Good Luck |
