| (This is WAY off topic BUT I am exhausting every avenue I can think of.) My mom is wanting to buy my dad a guided hunt for Christmas. When he was 7 he was cut in two by a seat belt in a tragic go cart accident. It severed all of his intestines, left his vena cava and aorta intact, broke is back and stretched his spinal cord several inches. Basically he was given little chance of living, then no chance of walking and after he defied the doctors they gave him a life expectancy of 30. He is a miracle, not only did he walk again but he worked every day until his retirement, rides and was able to rope until a few months ago and is an avid hunter but his mobility has always been and is especially now a great challenge. He taught me to look adversary in the face, get back up when you get knocked down and live everyday like you may not get another.
Any who, he is deteriorating quite quickly at 55. One of his life dreams was to get a bull elk but he has been applying in California since the age of the dinosaurs and has yet to be lucky enough to draw. Every year we send in our applications for tags and he says it's his year, the disappointment on his face when he checks draw results, especially this year, rips my heart out and stomps on it.
My mom has been saving money for quite sometime to get him a guided hunt, we are afraid next year might be his last opportunity to be able hunt do to his deteriorating health. We don't think she has enough saved for a bull elk hunt but would like to purchase him a trophy deer hunt (I think he would prefer mulie but we don't have white tail so that is not out of the question) if the elk is out of the question. So I was wondering if anyone here has experience with or knows any outfitters and could recommend one for us to look in to. He is a special case though. He can ride for miles but can only walk a few hundred yards so we are looking for someone who can accommodate his mobility issues. He is a big optics hunter and can spend HOURS behind his optics. My husband would also like to go, not as hunter but as guest, to gain experience, help my dad and to share the moment.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I am just trying to do my homework and help my mom get the best bang for her buck. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | My father in law just did a guided elk trip with an outfitter in Wyoming. He had a fantastic experience and got a nice bull the first morning of the hunt. They have also taken a packing trip to ride the Tetons with this group during the summer. Just a great outfitter and bunch of folks. They use horses to pack and ride in for the elk hunts and there was little walking... this outfitter could possibly work something out for you.

| My in-laws own J&J Outfitters in Northern Utah. They do trophy Mule Deer and Elk, along with Moose. They just took a 95 year old man out this year. He couldn't walk, could barely see and they still got him several opportunites. He actually hit one, after several misses. My Bro-in-law was the guide. I'm not sure where you are located but I'd give these guys a call. Tell them the story and they would likely work with you on price.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | WY is great about screwing over it's own in-staters to sell higher prices out of state tags. My dad and other members of the family have actually worked for the WY Game & Fish so this is a personal knowledge thing, not just a random miffed statement. That said, I highly recommend you put in for Elk here in WY. I don't know of any personal guides, but your dad is one of those seemingly rare men that want to work for a living vs living on the government, when it sounds to me like he actually had reason to. My hat is off to him for that. He deserves it. I'll do some asking around about guides, but I bet you can find as much doing a google search for WY guided elk hunts. Good luck and many prayers you find someone and can draw a tag. If we had Elk here on our land, I would guide him myself, but they are so random and few it wouldn't be worth your time.  |

Wyoming has no "Draw"for a cow or bull tag. You just get the tag and go! Shoot what ever you want depending on the areas regulations! I know it's crazy expensive to buy a tag in Wyoming if your not a resident but you insured a chance at a bull rather than waiting for a draw. Also we have some of the greatest guides in the country around the Rocky Mountain parts of Wyoming! |

| There are many guided tours in canada, I have friends who guide in bc, and with the dollar the way it is now I suggest looking at canada as it is like 30 percent off |

I didn't think it was horribly high considering some other places. OP, keep this post updated with what you work out, and if you still need help, come back and ask. You definitely got a good handful of ppl that should be able to connect you with someone. But if you need more, I have some friends in WY that hunt. |

This year I paid $1071 for my wyoming non resident elk tag and $326 for a deer tag. I didn't kill either but my 14 year old brother in law killed a nice 366 bull. |
