We found two trailers that meet our needs but they are very different and we are kind of stuck!

One is a 2007 Hart with a 12 ft outlaw conversion interior. It's very beautiful and very comfortable! 3 horse with rear perm tack.

The other is a 2011 Merhow. I can't remember the model but it had a slide with a dinette, kitchen had bar stools and breakfast bar. It had an interior sound system as well and an exterior sound system. Central vac system. And best of all an outdoor kitchen. Which both has wow factor and we would actually use a lot I think. It was the NFR show model and the interior appeared to be very nice. It was also a 3 horse with rear tack but it was colapsable which is a plus because we also have quads.

Both are about the same price, although the Hart is slightly less. Both have been very well taken care of. I do understand the Hart especially with the outlaw interior is a higher quality and will hold value better but then the Merhow has just a lot of really neat features and more living space with the slide. My husband is in love with the Merhow and I am kind of leaning towards the Hart but I don't know! The Hart is all shiney aluminum which my hubby dreads polishing lol. I think the Merhow is still under factory warranty but not 100 percent sure.

We have a friend who has a Merhow. It has given them nothing but problems. They've had to have the roof replaced because there was a leak, then there was another leak that caused mold so they had to get that fixed. Also, I believe Merhow recently went out of business.

OR you could keep looking for one that fits ALL your needs/wants. There are a ton of trailers for sale out there. Personally, having a slide and removable rear tack are 2 features you will love. The slide adds alot of living space. The removable rear tack is indespensable IF the middle bar between the door's also comes out. That gives the room for quads or whatever to fit in there. We have also had to remove the rear tack to unload a horse before. Personally, I would keep looking but thats just me.

Thank you guys. I don't think we will plan on selling it, but you never know, and mainly I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something that's going to go to crap in 5 years. I read a lot of reviews of Merhow and only came across a few negative ones but I don't know. The guy did say the cabinets for example are pressboard and once the handles get lose you can't tighten them and little things like that. My husband didn't think the cab were pressboard because they have dovetail joints... I have no clue. The sales guy basically said its good craftsmanship but lower end materials wise and compared to an outlaw interior it just doesn't really compare, but the Merhow does have so many features you don't often see in a horse trailer, especially in our price range. We could keep looking I suppose. They did have two platnums I liked a lot. One the only problem was it had a smell... Like what they use to clean porta potties, that was so strong you could taste it. That scared me so I passed. The other I would have picked but it didn't have the skylight above the shower and so my hubby could not fit in the shower, he's 6ft 5.

we have not had a sky lite that did not leak or break during a storm on any model trailer so no sky lite would be a good deal for me

I would stick with high end trailers if you are going to do it,,,, do it right.  Also, have you thought about purchasing a reverse load trailer?  It would be easier to load your quads that way since they have side loads with a ramp, then you could have a full rear tack. I sent you a message.

I think the Hart will hold its resale value better.

I agree with Bear - the Merhow probably has neat features but I think the Hart will hold it's value better.

I feel like I read somewhere Merhow's have had issues with their slideouts too. However, a friend of mine has one, very simple lq but works well for them.

Resell value aside and quality aside I think you prefer the Merhow. You wrote one sentence about the Hart and a paragraph about the Merhow.
This tells me you were trying to convince us to pick the Merhow because it is your favorite.

I purchased an Elite with a conversion done by a company other than Outlaw.  It was a BEAUTIFUL and unique interior and was the reason I purchaesd this particular trailer.  But I had nothing but problems with it because of bad wiring from Day 1.  I traded that trailer for a 4Star with an Outlaw conversion.  That trailer is now 11 years old and EVERYTHING STILL WORKS.  In deciding between 2 trailers where one had an Outlaw interior and the other one did not......I'd pick the Outlaw every time.

maybe post on www.horsetrailerworld.com forum & see what the opinions are there. There is also a truck & trailer review group on FB that is very good.
I also think if you buy a trailer that is lacking in what you want, you won't be happy with it. Merhow used to be a really good, well built trailer - but not sure how they are now.

Ditto. I like a collapsible tack.

Hart, I know of a Merhow that has had nothing but problems and it is brand new.
