I know it likely all comes down to personal prefrence, but I would really like to here who uses what, and why.

Looking for something that it shim-able as well as offers good shock absorbtion for my hard to fit horse. She has one shoulder that is bigger than the other, which is are biggest issue right now.

The Toklat is the cheapest, and what I am currently leaning towards. They offer an insert that is a layer of Poron over a layer of memory foam, and they are shim-able. The shims come with the pad, which is really nice.

But I am also curious about the Skito pads. They offer a laminated foam for hard to fit horses and riders over 200 pounds, which intrigues me. The shims are $50 extra which doesn't excite me all that much.

To me Equipedic looks very similar to Skito. Their website also hasn't been updated since early 2015. Are they still in business?

Any input would be appreciated!

Do you have a link to the Todd Sloan pad? I don't see anything on the Best Ever site or the Todd Sloan site that offers pockets to shim.

I use a skito, really love it.  My horses seem happy.  And it makes the treeless even more comfortable.

Yeah, I need something that I can shim. My mare is smaller on one side than the other, which is complicating saddle fit even more. I think I am going to need to make up for this with a saddle pad to get anything to fit somewhat decently.

is the difference in her shoulders (if it is a big amount) due to off shoeing or you posting only on one diagonal & building it up, etc? If it is "man/woman made", then I would work to get it built up to match the other one.

It is likely a little bit of both. She came to me a bit lopsided, and I think it has gotten worse over the years as her being lopsided causes me to sit a bit lopsided.

I just purchased a Toklat about 2 weeks ago and I love it! The quality is amazing and the shock absorption is great too. It is my favorite so far out of all the saddle pads I've had!

I have never heard of that before. I would think at this point in her life, her body and feet have compensated for the uneveness, and trying to trim or shoe to correct either could cause some serious problems. Both of her feet wear evenly, but I may ask my farrier about it the next time I see him.

I just ordered a Toklat with Extreme pro inserts (all poron xrd, thicker than the pro insert). I'll let you know how that goes. The demonstrations with poron xrd are all SUPER impressive. I'm kinda miffed at myself though because Jen X Equine is the company owned by the lady who came up with Poron XRD and their "western half pads" are only $180ish and come in a bunch of colors and have more Poron XRD in them. Her website isn't finished so they don't show up on there, but they are available, I asked her on Facebook. I know it has a velcro opening at the top so I believe you could shim it.
