Tell me about these lines...I am a Doc Bar sucker and this mare is loaded even if its back there a little ways.

Tell me what you would cross her on.

Something that can run and doesn't buck. Be a little more specific about your goals.

Well if I knew more about her lines I would better be able to explain my goals.
But Run and No buck would be a GREAT place to start.

You should not breed a mare without a goal for the foal. Do you intend to keep or sell? Do you want a barrel horse? a roping horse? a ranch horse? a race horse? a pet?

Breeding decisions are made very specifically on these goals. If you do not have answers to these questions, you should not breed yet until you have done more research.

In general, I said you should breed to a horse that doesn't buck and has run because your mare is NOT bred to run but she IS BRED to buck. She has Peppy San Badger and Docs Prescriptions in her lines which are both known lines for producing buckers. Any racing lines she has are also several generations back.

I do have goals.  I should have made that clear

.I would like to know what you would breed her to that would be a marketable barrel horse.

I like the cow/cutting horse lines.
I know this mare favors a fickle set of characteristics. I know the PS horses are known for being cold backed. I have never had the bucking issue with DP horses, but he is a ways back so I really  I was asking more about Genuine Doc.

In my experience the PS horses can be workers and tend to need a job. And the DP horses I have worked with have all been very sane and very trainable.

My questions becomes what would you breed her to to balance out the less desirable traits?

Firewater Finale sounds like he would cross well on her. Has a good mind (from what I hear so does his foals) mixed with run on the maternal side

Firewater Finale is certainly nice and I know a number of people who like him and his babies. They also sell well.

A young stallion I am a big fan of though, lots of run, proven in the pen too and right at your budget is Bullseye Bullion.

Some others to consider would be Nickster, Dashin Dynamo, and Perks Firewater Flit. All of these are top end stallions with excellent pedigrees and performance records. All are well within your budget.

If you want to stretch, Shawne Bug Leo, Traffic Guy, and Streaking ta Fame enter your price range at $2000.

Right now, I'm a big fan of Dashin Dynamo. He is stunning in the flesh.

Another one that impresses me is Pistol Packin Perry - very fast, very pretty.

Both of the above horses are bargain priced and are in incentives, Future Fortunes, etc.

I think with your mare's pedigree, she needs to be bred to something with speeeeeeddd.

He would be an excellent choice. Shawne Bug is my favorite bloodlines. I have an own daughter myself. He throws tons of bone and size plus there is plenty of speed in his blood. And of course he is well recognized and quite marketable. No one can doubt he produces either with his record.

I love a good cow bred horse. I personally love Streakin Six crossed on some good cowblood. I love Streakin Ali because of his cow/run cross.

I also think FWF would cross well, I have seen him crossed on a few cowbred mares and they are nice. I also love Manors Nick Bar and have plans to breed a mare bred similar to yours to him. I am still a big sucker for Lions Share of Fame also.
