| This is not a question but more of a fun topic what are some bits that you will never part with, discontinued being made, or hard to find in general?
Feel free to post pictures!
I dunno about ya'll but I collect bits like some women collect shoes, clothes, or whatnots. I don't understand how or why people sell bits I might need them one day. I'm not a hoarder with any other item. I hate clutter but I love my bits. I've shamelessly ordered 5-7 different mouth pieces in the same bit. Sometimes I'll get them not even intending to use them at the time! I just want them for later or just case. It kinda really is a problem but hey I could have worse addictions. Surely I can't be alone in this obsession? |

Oh you are not alone with this obsession..LOL . Sometimes I just buy cause its a cool bit and like you said one day I may need to use it.. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Trammel bits, Kerry K Bits, anything with a maker stamp. But handmade bits are my weakness.
If it's hand made and mounted with any type of silver, I want it in my collection. Square or not, I'm buying it just to say I have it LOL  |

Location: Oklahoma | I have a gal leg curb bit made by Dee Boone of Oklahoma in the 80's shortly before he died. It was ordered and made for me as a birthday present. He may not be nationally known, but he made some excellent bits and spurs and this bit has superb balance. I have toyed with selling it but I know it is only worth a couple of hundred dollars, so I'll keep it. |

He may not be nationally known, but he made some excellent bits and spurs and this bit has superb balance. I have toyed with selling it but I know it is only worth a couple of hundred dollars, so I'll keep it.
I'd say it is worth 400 to 500 depending on how it is stamped. I think he used different stamps at different times? I'm not sure? I've seen ppl bid on those on the bit page and it legit bring as much as 400.
I wouldn't ever sell tho but thats just me lol I'd probably be using the Boone bit as decoration in the house not in my tack room. Well that's a lie i'd at least ride in it once or twice if I got one. |

| Does anyone have the book titled "Bit and Spur Makers of the Texas Tradition" or any books similar? I really want one of those coffee table books plus I wanna read it BUT that's money spent on a $150 book that could be a nice bit instead  |

| Does anyone have a leather mouth piece bit? So thought about buying one I saw just because I'm very curious as to the feel of it. Pretty positive it wouldn't be a bit i'd use on anything right now but ya know the opportunity to buy it arose lol |

| I have three Hollis bits from 40+ years ago. Two are the H gag and one is a straight shank bit. If I don't use a bit I get rid of it. Somehow the Hollis bits have hung around. I do use them on occasion. I paid about $75 apiece for them around 1976.

You can buy that book off of Amazon brand new for $95.00 or a used one for $75.00. They also have a paperback for $25.00. |

I have used it. I had a little Doc Bar-bred barrel horse in the 90's and it worked really well for him, but haven't used it since then. Unfortunately, it is not stamped. I did talk to the lady that was in charge of the Dee Boone celebrations in Henryetta, Oklahoma, and she confirmed that sometimes he did not stamp bits that were given as gifts. Heck, I lived in Henryetta many years and can even show you where his little shop is located, still standing. Anyway, I do have it on display on my mantle as decoration in my house. |
