| I want to hear success stories of getting horses to eat away from home. Nervous issues. What did you do/change? |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | One time my local feed store was out of the electrolytes I would normally feed when traveling, so I grabbed a container of powdered gatorade to use. Found out my paint gelding who would sometimes go off his feed and not drink well away from home will eat everything if I sprinkle the orange gatorade on it. One spoon of it in a bucket of water and he will immediately drink the whole thing. Sometimes when it is really hot I will just pour a bottle in a bucket for him.
My other gelding that tends towards ulcers stays well and eats on the road if I keep him on UGuard from Smartpak. |

| My mare suddenly stopped eating and drinking this spring when we hauled . I tried equiwinner patches on her and helped her a bunch. I salt her feed not an electrolyte just good sale. |

Location: IN MY OWN LITTLE WORLD AT LEAST THEY KNOW ME HERE | My mare
Normal ration—-
Oats 1 scoop am n pm
Soaked alfalfa cubes 1 scoop ampm
Equipride ampm
Rice bran 1/2 c ampm
Sometimes she won’t eat on road.
She loves alfalfa cubes
I use 2 hanging feed buckets.
She will quit the oats so I still keep that scoop of oats in a bucket.
I put n 2 scoops of soaked alfalfa n Equipride mineral n the other.
I keep the hay bag full of coastal hay also. She eats the hay n alfalfa cubes :0)
At least she’s eating ;0)

Location: Muskogee, OK | For my finicky eater, I be sure to have omeprazole on board for all stay away from home shows and also keep alfalfa in front of him at all times. I usually start the omeprazole 1 day prior to leaving. |

| Thanks guys!
I too thought ulcers immediately but her eating habits do not change (on the road) with ulcer tx meds or sucralfate to coat the belly and when i bring her home she goes right back to eating normally... She is a pretty nervous nelly naturally and calming stuff doesn't do anything for her appetite.
This next race I'll be able to keep her in a big pen instead of a stall so we will see if that helps. |

| I keep hay in front of mine all the time when I travel - that seems to help. My open horse sometimes won’t finish his grain all at once, but goes back to it eventually. As long as he keeps drinking and picking at hay I don’t worry about him too much.
When one stops drinking I start to get worried. I’ve had good luck with Jailbreak from Oxygen and I want to say Zesterra is what I borrowed off someone a year or 2 ago, but it’s been a while. |

Location: Arkansas | I always had to wait to hang Spanky's hay until he had finished his grain. If you hung them both at the same time, he would ignore the grain and go straight for the hay.
I know this sounds silly, but sometimes all that would work was me holding the bucket for him while he ate. The things we do for winners, lol. I would do it all over again though. |

Location: my piece of paradise | I keep alfalfa in front of them, that way I know there getting at least something. I will also give calf manna pellets, the picky ones seem to like them and will eat it in their grain. I also keep mine on lixotinic and it seems to keep their appetite up. |

Never has mine, its different than something like red cell. It makes mine run more aggressive but the b1 in it helps kinda mellow them out. |

Location: Montana | I'm not an expert on hauling problems. But I've had great luck building appetites for horses with problems using this stuff. This is a brand name but I use generics too:

Location: IA | My mare stresses every time she is hauled. I keep hay in front of her all the time. I started giving her Stride Transform past before I put her in the trailer & then again once we arrive at the race. This has helped her continue to eat. I just added Turbo Mag to help her drink better. Love this combination! |

Location: in the ozone | I started giving my one like that some CBD alfalfa pellets & it has made a world of difference. I start them a couple days max before we leave & while we're gone. Helps him to focus more when running too I think. |
