What is your brand of choice and why? What are the benefits you've noticed in your horse? I've debated on switching my feed to a higher quality.. opinions and inputs please :)

I love Triple Crown. They have so many options and the quality is fantastic. I've tried other brands and nothing comes close. I've fed the Senior and really liked it. I now feed the Complete. I love it! I have fat happy healthy horses without most of the gastro problems other people have had. And I feed 6lbs a day and that's it.

Wish we had a dealer for renew gold here. I called the regional rep for manna pro or whatever and left voicemails but never heard anything back. Win Willows on here was very helpful but several feed stores I talked to for carrying it said they'd haft to price it up to justify carrying it. I wish tractor supply would get more on the ball about carrying the feed. With the work schedule I have I'm forced to buy from them most of the time because they are the only ones open. Purina Ultium has no comparison IMO but TSC doesn't keep it in stock and I end up just buying Dumor equip-stages and supplementing it with Empower Boost from Nutrena.

A friend of mine and I were talking about feeds the other day. I am looking at switching and wanted ADM, but can't get a hold of the dealer here. Thought I might go with Triple Crown, but when my friend mentioned Progressive Nutrition, I became intrigued by this feed. Anyone's thoughts on Progressive?

No ADM dealers are not real plentiful. It has been recommended to me to feed the ADM PrimGlo and GroStrong minerals. I have two real chubbies that need to lose weight and the one retired (25) is in good shape. Presently I have the two chubbies on the Nutrena Special Care with alfalfa cubes and EquiPride. The senior horse is on the Nutrena Senior with alfalfa cubes and beet pulp, plus weight builder. To balance out the alfalfa cubes, they get about a cup of oats. I might add that they are on pasture 24/7. I know I need to cut down, but I just want to make sure they are getting the vitamins they need.

How much per bag is the Complete?

It just went up for the first time since I've been feeding it. It's $22.50 now. I tried switching to a locally milled feed that had many of the same ingredients and almost the same analysis. It didn't do much for mine. I had to feed twice as much to keep them where I wanted and there was no shine. Not like with TC. So I went back. But that's all they get. TC Complete & a cup of flax. Free choice coastal hay. And my guy gets THE Muscle Mass.

I don't think I'll be switching again. They just didn't look as good on the other feed.
