Location: Bandera, TX | I have a very old TV that is hooked up to DirecTV with DVR. If I would like to get NetFlix, do I need another type of equipment, or can I plug the internet cable into the DirecTV box? I’m assuming another machine is needed…. What is the best/cheapest way to go? Thank you for teaching me about modern technology. |

| I will second the Roku. Connects just like a regular DVD player and connects to the internet via wifi. |

| I need to start looking in to this stuff. DirecTv has just become too pricey. AM thinking about getting an HD antenna for local channels (an indoor antenna didn't work very well) and get other stuff via the internet....but then again, I need a less expensive, faster internet to do so. No cable here at all.
And I just read that Netflix is picking up Longmire, one of the few shows we do like.
I hate scrolling through the DirecTv menu and finding absolutely NOTHING to watch!! They gave me 3 free months of HBO and I have found 2 movies that I actually recorded but could get through the rest of my life not having watched them. Now they want me to PAY for it? NOT! |

Location: Bandera, TX | I'm wondering if it would be worth getting the basic Directv/Dish package to get the local channels, and Netflix for movies and shows? |

I feel your pain. We have basic and it's just junk, but here is the deal breaker for me is I love sports, how do you all live without Football, rodeo, baseball, horse racing? Do you get sports when you go this other route? |
